Job description

The Opportunity

Cordova is seeking a talented and collaborative UX/UI Designer to craft intuitive, high-quality, and seamless customer experiences across a portfolio of internal and externally facing digital applications. This role is ideal for a designer who balances functional optimization with a passion for building polished, distinctive, and branded product interfaces.

Acting as a key contributor to the digital product ecosystem, you will leverage user research and data to deliver strategic design recommendations to leadership. Embedded within a cross-functional Agile team, you will collaborate with Product Owners, Developers, and Analysts to bridge user goals with real-world business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

User Experience & Interface Design

  • Solution Engineering: Create and refine user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for web and mobile platforms (iOS and Android).

  • User-Centered Design: Apply rigorous UCD principles to optimize functional digital experiences and establish a distinct, branded visual identity.

  • Modern Trend Curation: Keep pace with evolving design trends, accessibility guidelines, and technical standards to keep the product line modern and competitive.

User Research & Data-Driven Strategy

  • Insights Gathering: Design and execute user research methodologies and usability testing to collect data that directly informs solution design.

  • Strategic Advisory: Transform research insights into data-driven UX/UI recommendations for management and technology leaders.

  • Problem Solving: Use independent judgment to evaluate design alternatives, bringing structure and clarity to moderately complex interface problems.

Agile Collaboration & Delivery

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner daily with Product Owners, Developers, Business Analysts, and QA teams to forge a shared understanding of project scope and user empathy.

  • Advocacy & Persuasion: Confidently present, explain, and defend design decisions to stakeholders at various levels of the organization.

  • Lifecycle Integration: Collaborate within Agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban) using application lifecycle tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or Rally.

The Ideal Candidate

Experience & Education

  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business, Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Tenure: Minimum of 2+ years of professional UX/UI design experience.

  • Tool Stack Mastery: Advanced proficiency with industry-standard design and prototyping software (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, or InVision).

Preferred Technical Attributes

  • Platform Versatility: Proven design experience across both desktop responsive web and native mobile application frameworks (iOS/Android).

  • Agile Context: Solid understanding of software development practices, continuous delivery principles, and Agile project structures.

  • Domain Context: Experience or knowledge within the Insurance Industry is a valuable plus but not required.

Core Competencies

  • Communication & Facilitation: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a distinct ability to articulate technical or abstract design theories clearly.

  • Ownership: A proactive, self-starting mindset with a strong sense of accountability for final project deliverables.

  • Collaboration: Thrives in a multi-disciplinary environment, working seamlessly with both local and remote team members while maintaining absolute confidentiality of sensitive data.
