Job description

Position Overview

Thrive Space Counseling Services is actively seeking a dedicated and culturally sensitive Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic team. In this full-time remote position, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds to achieve their mental health goals. This opportunity not only allows you to apply your skills but also to grow personally and professionally in a supportive environment.

About the Organization

Thrive Space Counseling Services is a community-focused health clinic located in Champaign, Illinois. We pride ourselves on delivering inclusive and culturally aware mental health services that cater to a variety of clients, including ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ communities, and immigrant populations. Our mission is to foster a safe space for healing and growth, making mental health care accessible and effective for all.

Work Environment

This position is entirely remote, allowing you to maintain the flexibility necessary for a healthy work-life balance. Our team operates seamlessly in a virtual setting, utilizing modern communication tools to collaborate and connect. Despite the remote nature of the work, our culture is built on collaboration, inclusivity, and professional development, reflecting our commitment to both employee and client well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough and culturally sensitive mental health assessments that capture each patient's unique experiences, preferences, and needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized and evidence-based treatment plans, adapting therapeutic techniques to empower patients while respecting their cultural contexts.
  • Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy sessions to address a wide range of mental health concerns and promote emotional resilience among clients.
  • Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists and psychologists, to provide coordinated, comprehensive care for clients.
  • Be prepared to offer crisis intervention and support during mental health emergencies, ensuring patients receive the immediate care they need.
  • Educate clients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment strategies, and available community resources for support.
  • Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation in compliance with all legal and ethical standards, including electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Actively participate in regular team meetings, case conferences, and cultural competency training sessions to continuously enhance service delivery.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, staying abreast of current research and best practices in mental health therapy.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with a diverse clientele encompassing various cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our commitment to culturally competent care means you will have the opportunity to deeply engage with clients from immigrant families, LGBTQ+ individuals, and others who may face barriers to seeking traditional mental health services. This role allows you to tailor your therapeutic approach to enhance the cultural relevance and effectiveness of the interventions you provide.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • A current and valid state license as an LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW.
  • A strong grasp of mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment modalities with particular emphasis on cultural competence.
  • Experience in providing individual and group therapy utilizing responsive and inclusive techniques.
  • Exceptional crisis intervention skills and the ability to navigate challenging situations with professionalism and composure.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities, demonstrated through effective rapport-building with diverse clients.
  • Competency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and other computer applications vital for client management.
  • A commitment to uphold professional boundaries, ethical guidelines, and patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Capacity to thrive as part of a multidisciplinary team with a focus on collaborative client care.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience working in an outpatient or community health setting, particularly with multicultural populations.
  • Demonstrated experience in trauma-informed care and strategies that address systemic barriers impacting mental health.
  • Familiarity with telehealth platforms and remote service delivery methods.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is competitively set between USD 70,000 and 100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Robust healthcare benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • A retirement savings plan with employer-matching contributions to help you secure your financial future.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay to support your personal time and well-being.
  • Professional liability insurance coverage to provide peace of mind as you serve clients.
  • Access to continuing education opportunities aimed at promoting your professional development and growth.
  • Chances for career advancement and leadership roles within our practice.
  • An inclusive and collaborative work culture reflecting our commitment to team building and mutual support.
Career Growth Opportunities

At Thrive Space Counseling Services, we are committed to your professional development and provide numerous opportunities for career advancement. As part of our team, you will have access to ongoing training and mentorship programs designed to enhance your clinical skills and professional competencies. Whether you aspire to specialize further in a particular area of mental health or transition into a leadership role, we provide the pathways and support to help you achieve your goals.
