Job description

This is a remote position with preferences for candidates in the Huntsville, AL area.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Broadband Consultant to lead strategic, technical, and financial advisory engagements supporting broadband network development and deployment. This role serves as a client-facing leader, responsible for delivering high-impact consulting services across feasibility studies, funding strategies, network planning, and program execution.

The ideal candidate combines deep telecommunications expertise, strong consulting acumen, and proven leadership skills to guide clients through complex broadband initiatives while contributing to business growth and practice development.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, youโ€™ll serve as a trusted partner to our clientsโ€”utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, and private providersโ€”acting as their primary point of contact throughout engagements. Youโ€™ll help shape broadband strategies by leading the development of master plans, market assessments, and business cases, while offering thoughtful, executive-level guidance to senior stakeholders.

Youโ€™ll also take the lead on delivering consulting engagements from start to finish, ensuring everything runs smoothly from kickoff through final deliverables. This includes managing cross-functional teams across engineering, GIS, financial modeling, grants, and construction, and keeping work on track to meet quality, schedule, and budget expectations.

A big part of the role involves guiding network strategy and technical direction. Youโ€™ll oversee the evaluation and planning of fiber, fixed wireless, and hybrid broadband solutions, assess existing infrastructure, and help define smart, scalable deployment approaches. Your expertise will help drive key decisions around network architecture, capacity, and performance.

On the financial side, youโ€™ll oversee the development of robust modelsโ€”covering ROI, business cases, and operating scenariosโ€”while helping clients navigate funding opportunities. This includes shaping strategies for federal and state programs like BEAD and NTIA, and providing direction on grant applications, compliance, and overall funding alignment.

Youโ€™ll also play a visible role in stakeholder and community engagement, leading workshops, executive briefings, and public meetings. Along the way, youโ€™ll collaborate with local governments, regulatory agencies, and funding entities, while managing relationships with vendors and partners across the broadband ecosystem.

From a program leadership perspective, youโ€™ll provide oversight on executionโ€”keeping an eye on schedules, budgets, and risksโ€”while establishing governance frameworks, reporting structures, and performance metrics. Youโ€™ll help guide clients as they transition from planning into engineering, construction, and implementation.

Finally, youโ€™ll contribute to the growth of the business by supporting proposals, defining scopes, and shaping pricing strategies. Youโ€™ll also help uncover new opportunities within existing and prospective accounts, and lend your voice to thought leadership efforts through presentations, whitepapers, and industry forums.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 8โ€“15+ years of experience in broadband, telecommunications, or infrastructure consulting
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex broadband or telecommunications projects
  • Strong background in fiber, wireless, and/or hybrid network architectures
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and lead project teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting public-sector broadband initiatives (states, municipalities, co-ops)
  • Direct experience with broadband funding programs (e.g., BEAD, NTIA, USDA ReConnect)
  • Experience with GIS tools, network design platforms, or engineering coordination
  • PMP or similar project management certification
