Job description

Senior Bookkeeper

Remote - Must be Ontario-Based- live within 2 hour drive of Grimsby ON 
Full-Time | 40 hours per Week- 
$60,000/year depending on experience

Our client is a growing, Canada-wide, cloud-based bookkeeping firm that specializes in supporting churches and mission-based organizations.

They are currently seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join their remote team. This opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a paperless, cloud-based environment, enjoys building strong client relationships, and takes pride in delivering accurate, organized financials from start to finish.

Their culture is collaborative, supportive, and people-focused - with a strong emphasis on communication, accountability, and client care. Unlike many accounting firms who offer 40 hours and expect 60-70 hours per week during peak seasons, this company truly does not work more than a 40 hour work week. 

Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of church and nonprofit clients

  • Perform full-cycle bookkeeping in (QBO) QuickBooks Online

  • Support and perform onboarding functions of new clients
  • Complete reconciliations, payroll, AP/AR, donation tracking, GST/HST, and month-end reporting

  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready financial records

  • Communicate professionally and proactively with clients

  • Support onboarding and cloud-based bookkeeping workflows

  • Collaborate with internal team members on process improvements and client service

Qualifications
  • Live within a 2-3 hour drive to Grimsby as listed above. 
  • Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience

  • Experience gained in a public accounting firm or multi-client bookkeeping services environment strongly preferred 

  • Personality traits we are seeking include; extraverted, outgoing, social, communicative and collaborative- Strong personality fit for Service and client facing interactions. 
  • Strong full-cycle bookkeeping experience

  • Minimum 3 years of QuickBooks Online experience (required)

  • Experience working in paperless cloud-bookkeeping environments

  • Strong understanding of Canadian bookkeeping and payroll processes

  • Fully set up for work from home; dedicated space, double monitors is helpful 
  • Comfortable using tools such as:

    • QuickBooks Online

    • Microsoft 365

    • Dext

    • Wagepoint

    • Karbon

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working remotely

  • CPB certification is not required, considered an asset

  • Experience with church or nonprofit clients considered an asset

  • Ontario-based and located within approximately 2 hours of Grimsby for occasional team gatherings (up to 4 times/year)

  • Successful completion of 2 employment references and Background checks; Police and Credit check and Assessment
