Job description

Job Responsibilities Midlands Tech's English Department is looking for energetic, engaged, student-centered instructors to join our community and help us provide an open, accessible, and high-quality college experience for MTC's students. The department provides support for new faculty through mentorship by full-time faculty materials created by course coordinators. We also have a robust in-house history of professional development primarily driven by reflection on our classroom experiences with students.

Job Responsibilities: Teach a variety of English courses (primarily ENG 100, Introduction to Composition; ENG 101, English Composition I; ENG 102, English Composition II; ENG 160, Technical Communications; and/or ENG 165, Professional Communications). Submit semester and course calendars. Use online platforms to enhance teaching and learning and keep attendance and other course records (training provided).

Report on student progress as needed based on college initiatives. Participate in collection of data pertaining to student learning outcomes and competencies. Complete required training as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements Master's degree in English or a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in English required. Preferred Qualifications Degrees in English, Composition and Rhetoric, Professional/Technical Writing, or Linguistics preferred. Demonstrated interest and expertise in teaching college English courses, including both composition and literature, to diverse student populations highly preferred.

Recent experience teaching or tutoring highly preferred. Knowledge of current best practice in teaching writing preferred. Applicants must submit a resume curriculum vitae and a brief cover letter outlining your qualifications for the position.

Official graduate transcripts are required if hired; unofficial transcripts are requested at the time of interview. Additional Comments Adjunct faculty are compensated in accordance with Midlands Technical College's established pay schedule. The standard adjunct pay rate for this position is $2,914.65 per three-credit-hour course

Final compensation may vary depending on total course credit hours. Any variation is determined upon hire and outlined in the faculty employment agreement. Special Note for Applicants Residing Outside of South Carolina: If you are selected for a remote adjunct position with Midlands Technical College and do not reside in the State of South Carolina, your employment will be through KellyOCG, our employer of record partner supporting all remote out-of-state workforce requirements.
