What is a remote college student?

A remote college student is someone who pursues their college education primarily through online courses and virtual learning platforms, rather than attending classes in person on campus. These students may be enrolled in fully online degree programs or may take a mix of online and on-campus courses. Remote learning allows for greater flexibility in scheduling and location, making it a popular choice for students who have work, family commitments, or prefer to study from home. However, remote students need to be self-motivated and disciplined to succeed in a less structured environment.

What are some effective ways to stay connected and engaged with professors and classmates as a remote college student?

As a remote college student, maintaining strong communication with professors and classmates can be challenging due to the lack of in-person interaction. To stay engaged, actively participate in virtual discussions, make use of office hours, and join online study groups or campus organizations. Utilizing collaboration tools like video calls, group chats, and course forums can help foster relationships and ensure you don't miss out on important information or networking opportunities. Proactively reaching out to instructors and peers also demonstrates initiative and can enrich your educational experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote college student, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote College Student, you need strong time management, self-motivation, and digital literacy, backed by enrollment in an accredited academic program. Familiarity with online learning platforms like Canvas or Blackboard, video conferencing tools such as Zoom, and collaborative software like Google Workspace is typically required. Excellent written communication, adaptability, and proactive problem-solving are standout soft skills for remote learning environments. These skills and qualities ensure academic success, effective engagement, and the ability to independently navigate the unique challenges of remote education.

What is the difference between Remote College Student vs Remote Intern?

WAVI Social Media Intern

Location: Remote in Utah, preferably the Salt Lake City metropolitan area

Compensation: Commission-based, 10% of every WAVI Compete sale you generate

WAVI is looking for a motivated college student or recent college graduate with an interest in

marketing, social media, content creation, or a related field to join our team as a Fall Social

Media Intern.

About WAVI

WAVI is a Utah-based nootropic supplement brand founded in 2023 by father-and-son team

Scott and Riley Welch. WAVI was created to provide an alternative to traditional high-caffeine

energy products, with a focus on clear-headed energy, focus, and performance.

We help athletes and active individuals stay focused and energized without the heavy caffeine

load or crash associated with traditional energy drinks. Riley is a Certified Strength and

Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), bringing a background in strength, conditioning, and athletic

performance to the brand.

About the Role

This internship is primarily focused on creating social media content that drives sales. We’re

looking for someone who understands what is trending on TikTok and Instagram and can turn

those trends into creative, engaging content that gets people interested in WAVI and ultimately

motivates them to purchase.

Your responsibilities will include:

-Creating and posting content for Instagram and TikTok

-Staying up to date on social media trends, sounds, formats, and conversations

-Developing creative content around WAVI Compete

-Creating content designed to directly drive sales

-Testing different hooks, concepts, and content styles

-Tracking content performance and identifying what drives engagement and conversions

-Helping grow WAVI's social media presence and brand awareness

-Bringing fresh ideas and creativity to the marketing team

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

-Currently pursuing a degree or recently graduated in marketing, communications, social

media, business, or a related field

-Based in Utah, preferably in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area

-Comfortable creating content for TikTok and Instagram

-Familiar with current social media trends

-Creative, self-motivated, and willing to experiment

-Interested in fitness, sports, wellness, or performance

-Comfortable working independently and taking initiative

-Excited about building real-world marketing experience

Compensation

This is a commission-based internship. You will earn 10% of every WAVI Compete sale that you

generate through your content, promotional efforts, or unique sales tracking.

This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in social media marketing, content creation,

influencer-style marketing, e-commerce, and sales while directly seeing how your marketing

efforts translate into revenue.

How to Apply

Please send your resume and cover letter to: Megan McNulty, Director of Marketing, WAVI

We will be conducting interviews throughout the end of August and plan to select an intern

shortly after.
