Job Description

The Training Content Specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining Citywide digital learning resources, including software training videos, knowledge base articles, quick reference guides, and other self-service learning content. This role is ideal for a self-motivated, tech-savvy individual who enjoys learning new software, creating engaging digital content, and leveraging AI tools to improve productivity. Working independently, the successful candidate will modernize existing training materials and develop new learning resources to help clients quickly adopt and effectively use the Citywide software platform.


Success in this role requires curiosity, creativity, strong communication skills, and the ability to learn unfamiliar software with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate enjoys exploring new technologies, takes ownership of their work, and is passionate about creating clear, engaging, and high-quality learning experiences. This is a Full Time Remote position, the successful candidate must live in Canada.


Responsibilities & Duties

  • Independently learn the Citywide software platform and new product features through hands-on exploration and collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Create, record, edit, and publish engaging software training videos and e-learning content using Camtasia, Articulate, and AI-powered content creation tools.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve client-facing knowledge base articles in HappyFox, ensuring content is accurate, searchable, and easy to follow.
  • Modernize legacy training materials into concise videos, knowledge base articles, quick reference guides, and other digital learning resources.
  • Leverage AI and automation tools to improve the speed, quality, and consistency of content creation.
  • Capture and edit screenshots, screen recordings, graphics, and other multimedia assets to enhance learning.
  • Manage a backlog of training content projects by prioritizing work, tracking progress, and delivering high-quality content on schedule.
  • Collaborate with Product, Development, Implementation, and Training teams to ensure content reflects the latest software updates and best practices.
  • Review and test training content for accuracy, clarity, consistency, usability, and branding.
  • Continuously explore new technologies, AI tools, and instructional design best practices to improve the client learning experience.
  • Prepare training content and supporting materials for client and internal learning initiatives as required.
  • Contribute ideas to improve Citywide training content, knowledge base, and self-service resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Digital Media, Multimedia, Communications, Educational Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience creating digital learning content, technical documentation, instructional materials, or multimedia content (co-op, internship, freelance, or personal projects considered).
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software applications and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience creating and editing videos using tools such as Camtasia, Descript, Articulate, Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar content creation software.
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar) to improve content creation and productivity is considered an asset.
  • Strong written communication and technical writing skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Creative, curious, and proactive, with a passion for learning new technologies and continuously improving content.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and initiative in learning new technologies, experimenting with AI tools, and continuously improving work processes.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
  • Experience with knowledge base platforms, e-learning authoring tools, or Learning Management Systems (LMS) is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with enterprise software, SaaS applications, or municipal government software is considered an asset.
