Position Overview
The Virtual Production Supervisor is a senior technical and creative leader responsible for virtual production methodology and execution at Synapse Virtual Production's Atlanta studio, a next-generation virtual production facility developed through a strategic, multi-year collaboration with Tyler Perry Studios and located on the historic 365-acre Tyler Perry Studios campus.
Reporting to the Executive Producer, this role owns how virtual production is designed, implemented, and executed-from technical planning through on-stage delivery-ensuring each project leverages the right technology and approach to achieve its creative and production goals.
Working in close partnership with the Executive Producer, the Virtual Production Supervisor serves as the technical and creative bridge between filmmakers, clients, production, and technical teams, translating creative vision into reliable, high-performing virtual production solutions. They provide expert guidance on feasibility, workflow design, Unreal Engine, LED volume operations, camera tracking, and in-camera visual effects, while leading VP-specific technical decision-making from pre-production through on-stage execution.
Beyond individual projects, the Virtual Production Supervisor helps shape the future of Synapse's virtual production capabilities by refining workflows, contributing to R&D, and supports establishing scalable standards and the broader Synapse Virtual Production network.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading virtual production strategy, workflow design, and technical execution from pre-production through on-stage delivery.
  • Serving as the bridge between creative, production, and technical teams to ensure virtual production workflows support each project's creative vision.
  • Advising clients, filmmakers, directors, cinematographers, and production teams on virtual production capabilities, feasibility, and best practices.
  • Overseeing virtual production methodologies, including Unreal Engine, LED volume workflows, camera tracking, in-camera visual effects, and real-time production systems.
  • Use working knowledge of disguise and RenderStream workflows sufficient to accurately project and predict technical needs across productions.
  • Partnering closely with the Executive Producer, Technical Stage Manager, Systems Engineer, and stage operators to ensure seamless, high-quality production execution.
  • Leading VP-specific decision-making during technical preparation, rehearsals, and production while proactively resolving workflow and technical challenges.
  • Driving continuous improvement through workflow refinement, research and development, technical testing, documentation, and the development of scalable best practices across Synapse.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience leading virtual production on feature films, television, commercials, or live productions, along with deep expertise in Unreal Engine, real-time workflows, LED volumes, and cross-functional leadership.
