Job description

Job Title: Systems Administrator III (Multi-Cloud Engineer) Location: Gaithersburg, MD Type: Contract Compensation: Work Model: Remote – offsite Hours: 40.0 Security Clearance: Public Trust Contract: $62.50/hr Conversion Salary: Up to $130,000

Responsibilities

  • Operate effectively across multiple cloud environments—Azure, AWS, GCP—developing and implementing reusable cloud patterns and solutions using Infrastructure As Code for self-service secure delivery
  • Continuously improve compliance and cyberposture through AWS Security Hub CSPM, Config/Cloudtrail, Guardduty, and Azure Defender integration, developing guardrails and governance policies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems within AWS cloud environments, document and communicate issues, and support knowledge transfer and learning opportunities
  • Diagnose and address network connectivity issues, maintain and correct security groups, route tables, subnet and VPC allocations, VPNs, peerings, balancing reliability and costs
  • Effectively manage resource costs, budgets, anomalies, and reporting (FinOps)
  • Manage big data analytics platforms and workloads, optimizing data tiers

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems or relevant field with 4+ years practical experience, or Master’s degree with 2+ years practical experience; additional years of experience accepted in lieu of a degree
  • Ability to obtain public trust clearance
  • Ability to self-manage work using M365 tools
  • Proven ability to resolve issues independently, initiate improvements, and operate with a growth mindset
  • Hands-on experience in building and architecting multi-cloud networks with secure routing and firewalls
  • Understanding of regulatory controls, baselines, and security policies in AWS environments (CIS benchmarks, STIG, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with Cloudformation, Terraform, or similar tools
