Position Summary

The Civil/Structural Engineer Team Lead is responsible for leading a team of engineers and technicians in the design and oversight of structural and civil engineering components for high-voltage substations and transmission line projects. This role combines technical leadership, project coordination, and team management to ensure designs meet industry codes, safety standards, project schedules, and customer expectations while supporting utility, industrial, and renewable energy infrastructure projects.

Job Function

  • Lead and oversee engineering responsibilities and design activities for civil and structural projects.
  • Supervise Civil Engineers and Civil Engineering Technicians assigned to the team.
  • Manage project schedules, design coordination, and quality control processes.
  • Lead design reviews and checking procedures to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Train, mentor, and develop engineering staff.
  • Maintain engineering design standards and training guidelines.
  • Coordinate and resolve issues between design teams and departments.
  • Respond to technical questions from field personnel, construction managers, and customers.
  • Support customer satisfaction initiatives and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Travel to customer offices and project sites for meetings and construction support.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, scheduling, and performance management of engineering staff.
  • Provide input regarding organizational structure, employee development, and continuing education.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leading engineering teams within the power delivery or utility industry is preferred.
