Position Overview
We're looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join our team at Knexus. This is a fully remote position for candidates in the continental U.S., with work hours aligned to the Eastern Time Zone. You will play a crucial role in using data to help government leaders make mission-critical decisions. This position requires a professional who is not only a master of data analysis but also a creative problem-solver with a strong ability to work with large, complex datasets. You will be responsible for a range of tasks, from developing predictive models to presenting insights to key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Data Analysis and Modeling: You will develop statistical models and algorithms to analyze large, complex datasets. Your expertise will be used to extract meaningful patterns, trends, and signals from data.
  • Predictive Analytics: Use machine learning techniques to predict future trends based on historical data.
  • Data Visualization and Reporting: Create visual representations of data to help stakeholders understand findings and make informed decisions. You will also provide detailed reports and presentations on your findings.
  • Collaboration: You will work closely with other departments to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights. A strong sense of public service and excellent communication skills are key to collaborating with multidisciplinary government teams.
  • Experience with Large Datasets: You must be comfortable working with large datasets, as a core responsibility will be to analyze extensive data to drive innovation and improve policy outcomes. This includes cleaning and structuring raw data to make it readable for software programs.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in data science or a related field, with a preference for a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R is essential. You should also be familiar with data management tools and platforms like Hadoop, Spark, or SQL-based database management.
