Development and Grants Coordinator
Experience Camps is a national nonprofit that transforms the lives of grieving children through no-cost summer camps, year-round programs, and a culture-shifting movement to normalize childhood grief. Our vision is a world where every grieving child has the support they need to thrive.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Foundations & Grants Officer, the Development and Grants Coordinator will support fundraising efforts across the foundation, corporate, and major gifts channels, with a primary focus on foundation fundraising and pre-award grant activities. This role will lead prospect research, grant writing, proposal development, and grants pipeline management, while also providing research, outreach, and stewardship support to the Corporate Giving Officer and Major Gifts Officer.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their nonprofit fundraising career who is highly organized, detail-oriented, curious, and excited to grow within development and philanthropy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following is not intended to be an exhaustive list. Other responsibilities and duties may be assigned:
GRANTS AND FOUNDATIONS (70%)
  • Support the organization's foundation fundraising efforts with a primary focus on pre-award grant activities,
  • Research and identify prospective foundations aligned with Experience Camps' mission, programs, and geographic footprint
  • Write compelling letters of inquiry, grant proposals, applications, narratives, and supporting materials tailored to funder priorities
  • Manage grant calendars, application deadlines, submission timelines, and internal tracking systems to ensure timely and accurate submissions
  • Prepare briefing materials, prospect summaries, and funder research to support cultivation and relationship-building efforts
  • Maintain accurate records of foundation prospects, submissions, and funding activity within CRM and grants tracking systems
  • Assist with limited post-award support activities such as tracking reporting deadlines and compiling materials for funder reporting, as needed

CORPORATE GIVING (15%)
  • Conduct corporate prospect research focused on companies aligned with Experience Camps' mission and regions where camps operate, including philanthropy, sponsorship, and employee engagement opportunities
  • Assist with identifying key contacts, maintaining corporate prospect pipelines, and preparing research summaries and briefing materials for outreach and meetings
  • Support stewardship tracking, event-related prospecting, and corporate engagement efforts
  • Monitor employee giving, volunteer engagement, and sponsorship trends to help identify partnership opportunities

MAJOR GIFTS (15%)
  • Conduct discovery outreach with prospective and newly identified donors to determine interest, alignment, and giving potential
  • Assist with introductory outreach, donor research, and qualification efforts
  • Help identify individuals who may be strong candidates for deeper engagement by the Major Gifts team
  • Support outreach to lapsed donors to help reconnect them to the mission and opportunities for involvement and support
  • Assist with stewardship efforts to ensure donors and prospects feel informed, appreciated, and connected to the impact of their support

EXPECTATIONS & COMPENSATION
  • 40 hours/week (standard schedule is generally Monday through Friday, 9-5/10-6 ET, depending on location) with flexible hours to account for calls and meetings in the evenings
  • Primarily remote position with occasional in-person requirements.
  • Annual base salary range: $50,000 - $60,000, commensurate with experience

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 0-3 years of experience in fundraising, communications, or a related field
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills; experience with grant proposals, appeals, or persuasive writing a plus
  • Ability to synthesize data, strategy, and storytelling to drive impact
  • Energized by our mission and motivated by building meaningful, scalable work
  • Proficiency in CRM or database tools, or comfortable learning new systems quickly
