Job description

SB Legal is a small Utah criminal defense firm looking for a warm, steady, and highly personable intake specialist to be one of the first voices potential clients hear from our office. This is a fully remote, part-time role, expected to be approximately 20-29 hours per week during weekday business hours in Mountain Time. Although this is a remote position, the employee must reside within the State of Utah.

Prior legal experience is not required. We are more interested in someone with strong customer service instincts who can help people feel calm, heard, and comfortable sharing sensitive information during a stressful moment.

What You'll Do

  • Answer intake calls, texts, and emails from potential clients.
  • Build trust quickly with people who may be stressed, scared, embarrassed, or frustrated.
  • Gather basic case information, concerns, goals, and budget/fit details.
  • Schedule attorney consultations when appropriate and send follow-up messages.
  • Enter clear notes and keep leads organized in our case management system.
  • Potentially assist with additional outreach, such as consult follow-up or payment reminders, as capacity allows.

What We're Looking For

  • Fluent in both English and Spanish.
  • Warm, personable, and easy to talk to.
  • Calm and grounded when speaking with people under stress.
  • Strong listener with good judgment and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable asking sensitive questions with tact and empathy.
  • Reliable, organized, and able to work independently from home.

Compensation & Schedule

  • $24-$27 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Part-time, approximately 20-29 hours per week.
  • Fully remote, with work generally during weekday business hours in Mountain Time.
  • This part-time position does not include health insurance benefits.

Why This Role Matters

Calling a criminal defense attorney can be intimidating. This role helps potential clients feel heard, respected, and grounded while giving our attorneys the information they need to determine whether we are the right fit to help.

To Apply

Please submit your resume and a cover letter explaining why you would be a good fit for a client-facing role that requires warmth, patience, and strong communication skills.
