Remote Car Allowance information

What is a remote car allowance?

A remote car allowance is a benefit provided by some employers to remote or field-based employees to help cover the costs associated with using their personal vehicle for work purposes. This allowance is typically given as a fixed monthly or periodic payment rather than reimbursing actual mileage or expenses. It helps employees offset expenses like fuel, maintenance, insurance, and wear and tear incurred while performing job duties that require travel. The amount and eligibility criteria may vary by company, and the allowance is usually considered taxable income. Employees should check with their employer for specific policy details.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote car allowance administrator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Car Allowance Administrator, you need expertise in benefits administration, attention to detail, and knowledge of relevant tax and labor regulations, typically supported by experience in HR or payroll. Familiarity with HRIS platforms, payroll software like ADP or Workday, and expense management systems is often required. Strong organizational skills, clear communication, and discretion with sensitive information are key soft skills for this position. These skills ensure accurate processing, compliance, and a positive employee experience in managing car allowance programs remotely.

How does a car allowance benefit employees in remote roles, and what are some common considerations when managing this perk?

In remote roles that require occasional travel, a car allowance can help cover vehicle expenses such as fuel, maintenance, and insurance. This benefit provides flexibility, allowing employees to use their own vehicles for work-related travel without the constraints of a company car. Common considerations include understanding the tax implications, maintaining accurate mileage records, and ensuring personal auto insurance meets company requirements. It's also important to clarify whether the allowance is a flat rate or reimbursed based on actual expenses.

Job description

Sales National Account Manager

SafeStreets USA | Remote (U.S.) | Full-Time | Some travel required

SafeStreets USA is dedicated to creating safer, stronger communities across the country. As a Sales National Account Manager, you’ll be the face of SafeStreets to enterprise and multi-site businesses: opening new national accounts, building relationships with senior decision makers, and growing those accounts over the long term.

This is a consultative, strategic sales role with longer cycles, bigger deals, and real ownership of your book of business. You’ll work remotely, report directly to our Director of National Accounts, and have visibility all the way up to the SVP level.

Join a 1,000-member team where innovation, integrity, and community impact drive everything we do.

What you’ll do

  • Prospect and open new national accounts, bringing in new logos across commercial and multi-site verticals
  • Build and maintain a qualified national account pipeline aligned to revenue targets
  • Schedule and lead strategic meetings with enterprise-level decision makers
  • Develop and advance consultative proposals through a longer, complex sales cycle
  • Sell security products and services that generate both Install Revenue (IR) and Recurring Monthly Revenue (RMR)
  • Own account relationships after the win, driving retention, expansion, and long-term revenue growth
  • Tailor account penetration strategy to the size and complexity of each opportunity
  • Maintain accurate forecasting and pipeline reporting in Salesforce, reviewed weekly, monthly, and annually with your Director and SVP
  • Represent SafeStreets at industry trade shows, customer events, and on-site client meetings

What success looks like

In your first year, you’ll achieve a ramped quota for Recurring Monthly Revenue (RMR) and Install Revenue (IR) as outlined in the annual compensation plan. Beyond the number, success means a healthy, well-documented pipeline, strong relationships with enterprise stakeholders, and accounts that grow year over year.

What you’ll bring

Required

  • A background in security sales and/or business-to-business sales experience
  • Proven ability to sell consultatively to enterprise or multi-site decision makers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to senior stakeholders
  • Self-motivation and discipline to work effectively from a home office
  • A collaborative approach: you work well within a team even in a remote role
  • Willingness and ability to travel. Some travel is required for this role, including trade shows, industry events, and on-site customer meetings
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and able to pass a criminal background check

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with security and life-safety platforms, monitoring, or connected-home/commercial technology
  • Experience carrying and hitting a new-logo acquisition quota
  • Current rolodex and relationships with prospective partners in the security space

Compensation and benefits

Total compensation: $60,000 to $80,000 base salary (DPE) plus an aggressive commission structure focused on company growth. Typical earnings for this role range between $120,000-$350,000+. Where you land in that range depends on the accounts you win and the revenue you generate.

Benefits include:

  • HSA-eligible medical coverage
  • Dental and vision coverage
  • Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • 401(k) w/ 4% company match
  • Paid time off
  • Car allowance
  • Cell reimbursement
  • Monthly earnings guarantee period (3-6mo)

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and any additional security clearances or licenses required for the role, including applicable state licensing requirements.
