Summary
About the Position: This position is located at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital on Fort Campbell, Tennessee.
Preferred Certifications but not required: Oncology Data Specialist Certification - Certification offered by National Cancer Registrars Association

Duties
Help
  • Maintain liaison with staff physicians and allied health professionals; local, state, and national professional organizations.
  • Assist in compiling and maintaining a comprehensive database utilizing the Automated Central Tumor Registry (ACTUR).
  • Review standard and electronic patient medical records to identify cases of malignant disease, abstract and code information.
  • Provide assistance to the Oncology Advisory Group and attends multidisciplinary tumor boards.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of appropriate staging coding and inclusion of all pertinent patient data.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) performing clinical support within a medical treatment facility; (2) reviewing, entering, and updating data to malignant case files utilizing a electronic healthcare database, and (3) coordinating with internal and external healthcare providers to obtain medical histories. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-6).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
