Position Summary

The Healthcare Data Analyst plays a key role in supporting Blue Ridge Careโ€™s mission through the meaningful use of data and analytics. This position is responsible for transforming complex healthcare data into actionable insights that drive operational performance, improve outcomes, and support strategic decision-making.

The Healthcare Data Analyst partners closely with Finance, IT, Quality, Clinical Operations, and Senior Leadership to strengthen reporting, identify opportunities, and support initiatives across service lines. This role is ideal for an analytical professional who enjoys solving real-world problems, working with healthcare data, and contributing to mission-driven work where analytics directly impact lives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Analyze data from multiple internal and external sources, including EHR, CRM, financial, payroll, operational systems, and publicly available healthcare data

  • Conduct research, strategy development, and creation of new data products to support market expansion, service growth, cost savings, and revenue opportunities

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the organizationโ€™s data and analytics platform, including data integration and storage

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytic tools to support financial metrics, operational performance, and executive reporting

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and translate business needs into analytical solutions

  • Develop forecasts and predictive analytics to support decision-making, strategic planning, and budgeting processes

  • Identify trends, gaps, risks, and opportunities that support improved patient outcomes and organizational effectiveness

  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and timeliness across all reporting deliverables

  • Document data definitions, logic, and methodologies to promote transparency and standardization

  • Assist with data validation, reconciliation, and audit support

  • Identify opportunities to automate and standardize recurring reports and analytics workflows

  • Promote a data-driven culture by supporting data literacy and analytical capabilities across the organization

  • Present insights clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Ensure all analytics and data activities comply with HIPAA and applicable healthcare data privacy regulations

Qualifications/Experience
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Data Analytics, Finance, Statistics, Economics, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare data analysis, reporting, or analytics

  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data querying and validation; familiarity with other analytical tools such as Python or R

  • Experience working with healthcare data from internal systems and external sources (e.g., CMS, Census, BLS)

  • Proficiency in Excel and business intelligence/visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms

  • Understanding of healthcare data concepts, standards, and terminology

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate across teams

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Familiarity with Medicaid and Medicare payment models and value-based care

  • Experience with healthcare data privacy and compliance requirements, including HIPAA
