Job description

Come build something with Shepley Bulfinch as a Talent Engagement Specialist!
Shepley Bulfinch is seeking a Talent Engagement Specialist who is passionate about building relationships, connecting people to meaningful career opportunities, and helping create exceptional experiences for candidates and employees. While this role is listed as being located in Boston, it will be 100% remote and available to candidates in EST or CST time zones.
As part of the People + Development (HR) team, this role leads the Firm’s recruiting efforts and serves as a key partner in attracting exceptional talent to support our growing national practice. The Talent Engagement Specialist manages the full recruitment lifecycle while building strong relationships with candidates, Firm leadership, hiring teams, universities, and professional networks.
Beyond recruiting, this role helps employees understand the many opportunities available to grow and develop at Shepley Bulfinch. By understanding our career development philosophy, learning resources, and internal programs, the Talent Engagement Specialist helps connect people with opportunities that align with their interests and goals.
Who We Are
Shepley Bulfinch is a national architecture and design firm with offices in Boston, Durham, Hartford, Houston, and Phoenix. Founded in 1874, the Firm has a notable legacy of challenging convention, pioneering visionary design ideas, and collaborating with clients who seek to drive measurable change.
Our People + Development team believes that creating a meaningful employee experience requires intentionality. We are committed to attracting talented people, supporting their growth, and cultivating a culture where individuals can contribute, learn, and do their best work.
How Do You Know if This Role is Right for You?
You genuinely enjoy getting to know people — understanding their strengths, experiences, goals, and what motivates them. You see recruiting as more than filling open positions; you see it as creating connections that impact people’s careers and the future of our organization.
You are energized by networking and building relationships, whether that means engaging a prospective candidate, partnering with hiring leaders, strengthening university connections, or helping employees navigate opportunities available to them.
You are organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a thoughtful and personalized experience. You are curious about how people grow in their careers and enjoy helping connect individuals with resources, relationships, and opportunities that support their success.
Responsibilities
Talent Attraction + Recruiting
  • Lead the full recruitment lifecycle, including sourcing, engaging candidates through various platforms, candidate evaluation, interviews, and offers
  • Partner with Practice Leadership and staffing team to understand staffing needs, define candidate profiles, create thoughtful recruitment strategies, and support communication and awareness of development offerings across the practice
  • Create and maintain job descriptions that reflect role expectations, Firm culture, and growth opportunities
  • Build and maintain relationships with candidates and talent communities as a primary point of contact to support current and future hiring needs while ensuring a positive and transparent experience
  • Partner with Marketing to strengthen employer branding, recruiting campaigns, and candidate communications
  • Maintain recruiting systems, candidate information, and hiring data

Talent Engagement + Growth Connections
  • Develop a strong understanding of Shepley Bulfinch’s career development philosophy, learning resources and growth opportunities
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource to help employees connect with development opportunities available across the Firm
  • Partner with the People + Development team on initiatives that strengthen employee experience, engagement and connection
  • Lead the Firm’s internship program

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or related field preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in full-cycle recruiting, talent engagement, or related people-focused roles
  • Strong ability to build relationships with candidates, employees, and leaders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and relationships
  • Ability to balance long-term planning with immediate and timely execution
  • Appreciation for architecture, design, and creative professions

Shepley Bulfinch offers competitive benefits and compensation, including health and dental insurance, a 401(k) and profit-sharing plan, flexible work schedules, and a range of professional growth and development opportunities.
