Job description


Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Coder II, you will apply your senior-level expertise to meticulously code both inpatient and outpatient professional fee services across multiple specialties, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Every day you will review documentation to assign appropriate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 diagnosis codes. You will expertly resolve edits in work queues (charge review, claim edit, follow up), analyze denials for corrected claims or appeals, and collaborate with clinic supervisors, providers, and the Revenue Management team to resolve coding issues and questions, following applicable payer rules and guidelines.
To be successful in this role, you will possess at least three years of experience in multi-specialty professional fee coding, a deep understanding of payer rules and guidelines, exceptional attention to detail, and proven abilities in analytical problem-solving and effective communication to optimize revenue integrity

  • Uses appropriate tools, code books, references, and systems to determine proper coding for services based upon documentation in the patient record.
  • Maintains assigned workqueues and coding assignments within defined processing timeframes.
  • Submits appropriate queries to providers for clarification when needed.
  • Meets productivity and accuracy standards established by management.
  • Ability to code at least three (3) or more different specialties; or at least one highly complex specialty (i.e., Cardiology).
  • Follows established protocols to promote efficiencies within the department and timely filing of claims.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in professional fee coding
  • Experience with the electronic health record (EHR) and health care applications
  • Up to six (6) months to obtain the CPCCPC or CCSP

Preferred

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree
  • Epic experience
  • Additional coding certifications (specialty credential(s)/CPMA)
