Summary
You will serve as a Supervisory General Engineer in the Fleet Support Team (FST) Department of Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) (Cecil Commerce Center).

  • You will provide high-level direction, supervision and leadership to assigned FRCSE FST engineering personnel.
  • You will direct and provide oversight for the technical management required for major upgrades and engineering changes required to sustain Naval Aviation Aircraft, Weapons and Support Systems throughout their project life cycle.
  • You will identify and forecast resource requirements (funding, manpower, training, computers, facilities, etc.) and provide associated rationale to support the budgeting process.
  • You will monitor performance of engineering technical analyses, engineering investigations, economic analyses and support services provided directly to the operational community.

  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer performing duties such as: 1) Demonstrated experience in making major contributions to Naval Air Vehicle Engineering by volunteering and/or leading efforts on major engineering issues for which the efforts of those projects resulted in improved safety of Naval aircraft, major increase to fleet readiness, reduced TAT's, meeting major deadlines, major efficiency gains and/or major cost savings.

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
