Description

Position Overview: The Intelligent Virtual Agent (IVA) Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain cloud-native web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, and NestJS. The successful candidate will integrate software solutions with relational databases, support production environments on AWS, and drive data quality. The engineer will work collaboratively in an agile scrum environment, contributing to deployment automation, documentation, and supporting testing activities.

This role requires 1 day each week onsite in Rosslyn, VA.  

Software Development:

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy cloud-native web applications using React, Next.js (frontend), and NestJS (backend), following a modular, service-oriented architecture.
  • Implement AWS-native infrastructure patterns including Lambda functions, API Gateway, S3, and ECS/Fargate in lieu of traditional IIS/server-based hosting.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient TypeScript/JavaScript code, adhering to NIST security requirements.

Database Integration and Management:

  • Integrate NestJS applications with relational databases (Oracle and/or PostgreSQL/Aurora).
  • Develop and maintain database objects including stored procedures, functions, and schema migrations using ORM tooling (e.g., TypeORM or Prisma).
  • Utilize database tools such as DBeaver, pgAdmin, or SQL Developer for development and troubleshooting.
  • Drive data quality initiatives and provide production support for database-related issues.

Deployment and Automation:

  • Participate in automated deployment processes using AWS-native tooling (CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CloudFormation/CDK) or equivalent IaC frameworks.
  • Collaborate with team members to create and maintain deployment automation scripts and documentation.

DevOps and CI/CD:

  • Use CI/CD tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, and Nexus to manage code repositories, build pipelines, and artifact storage.
  • Contribute to continuous integration and delivery processes to ensure rapid and reliable software releases.

Security and Integration:

  • Integrate web applications with multi-factor authentication (MFA) products such as OKTA and CyberArk.

Agile Collaboration and Testing Support:

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors and 5+ years or more experience; Masters and 3+ years; may accept additional experience in lieu of degree.
  • Hands-on experience in the following areas:
    • Software Development: Design, develop, test, and deploy cloud-native web applications using React, Next.js (frontend), and NestJS (backend). Implementing AWS-native infrastructure patterns.
    • Database Integration and Management:  Integrate NestJS applications with relational databases (Oracle and/or PostgreSQL/Aurora). Experience with tools such as DBeaver, pgAdmin, or SQL Developer.
    • Deployment and Automation:  AWS-native tooling (CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CloudFormation/CDK) or equivalent IaC frameworks.
