Senior Back-End Developer – .NET/C#

We're looking for a Senior Back-End Developer with deep expertise in the Microsoft .NET ecosystem. When you join Aequilibrium, you'll be part of a fun and agile technology professional services company driving innovation in financial services.

We're seeking a consultative, client-facing developer who can design, build, integrate, and extend enterprise applications using modern C#, .NET, Azure, and microservices technologies. You'll work closely with clients, product teams, architects, and fellow engineers to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise solutions.

Who You Are
  • You have extensive experience designing and developing enterprise-grade applications using C# and .NET.

  • You have strong expertise building scalable backend services using ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework, and RESTful APIs.

  • You have experience designing microservices and distributed systems.

  • You have worked in professional services, consulting, or agency environments and are comfortable interacting directly with clients.

  • You can manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining high-quality deliverables.

  • You are passionate about technology and solving complex business challenges.

  • You can translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and architecture.

  • You collaborate effectively with Product Managers, Designers, Architects, and Engineers.

Must-Have Qualifications
  • 10+ years of professional software development experience.

Strong experience with:

  • C#
  • .NET Core / .NET 6+

  • ASP.NET Core

  • Entity Framework

  • Strong experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices.

  • Experience with SOAP and REST integrations, JSON, XML, and modern API design practices.

  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.

  • Experience with messaging technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, or similar).

  • Experience writing automated unit and integration tests using xUnit, NUnit, or MSTest.

  • Strong knowledge of Git and modern source control workflows.

  • Experience developing large-scale, enterprise-grade applications.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including cloud-native services.

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Strong understanding of application security, authentication, authorization, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and secure API design.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

  • Experience working in financial services, fintech, banking, or other enterprise environments.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience working in Agile teams using Scrum and/or Kanban.

  • Knowledge of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration practices.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Experience with Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, Azure API Management, Azure Key Vault, Cosmos DB, or Event Hubs.

  • Experience with event streaming technologies such as Kafka.

  • Experience with OpenShift.

  • Experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring developers.

  • Experience with high-volume transactional systems or payment platforms.

Location

This is a 100% remote position with full time engagement (40 hours a week) for candidates based in the Americas. Candidates located outside of Canada will only be able to work for the company as independent contractors.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is CAD $120K–$150K annually (or the equivalent hourly rate for candidates outside of Canada, who will be working as contractors). Compensation will be based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
