What is a remote biomedical machine learning job?

Remote biomedical machine learning jobs involve applying machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to biomedical data, such as medical images, genetic information, or clinical records, while working from a remote location. Professionals in these roles develop algorithms to assist in disease diagnosis, drug discovery, or patient outcome prediction. These jobs typically require strong programming skills, experience with data science tools, and a background in biomedical sciences or related fields. Remote positions offer flexibility and the ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams from anywhere in the world.

What are some unique challenges faced when working remotely as a biomedical machine learning professional, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Biomedical Machine Learning professionals often face challenges related to accessing large and sensitive datasets, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations, and maintaining effective communication with interdisciplinary teams such as clinicians and researchers. To address these, it's important to become familiar with secure data transfer protocols, collaborate closely with IT and compliance officers, and utilize robust project management and communication tools. Regular virtual meetings and clear documentation can help bridge gaps and ensure alignment on project goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote biomedical machine learning specialist, and why are they important?

Thriving in Remote Biomedical Machine Learning requires expertise in machine learning, data analysis, and a strong background in biomedical sciences, often supported by an advanced degree in a related field. Proficiency with programming languages such as Python or R, experience with frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch, and familiarity with medical data systems are typically necessary. Excellent problem-solving skills, communication abilities, and self-motivation are standout soft skills for remote collaboration and research. These competencies are vital to effectively develop innovative biomedical solutions, ensure data integrity, and drive impactful research in a distributed work environment.

What is the difference between Remote Biomedical Machine Learning vs Remote Biomedical Data Analyst?

AspectRemote Biomedical Machine LearningRemote Biomedical Data Analyst
Required CredentialsMaster's or PhD in Bioinformatics, Data Science, or related fields; experience with ML frameworksBachelor's or Master's in Biology, Data Analysis, or related; proficiency in data visualization and statistical tools
Work EnvironmentCollaborative remote teams, research labs, tech companiesRemote healthcare organizations, research institutions, biotech firms
Employer & Industry UsageTech companies, biotech startups, research institutionsHospitals, healthcare providers, pharmaceutical companies

Remote Biomedical Machine Learning specialists focus on developing algorithms and models to analyze biomedical data, often requiring advanced degrees and programming skills. In contrast, Remote Biomedical Data Analysts interpret and visualize biomedical datasets, typically with a focus on statistical analysis. Both roles are vital in healthcare and biotech industries but differ in technical depth and responsibilities.

Job description

Core4ce is seeking a highly experienced AI/Machine Learning Specialist to develop innovative AI-enabled tools, algorithms, and solutions for complex intelligence and geospatial problems. We are looking for a hands-on builder with experience developing AI/ML solutions, working with large-scale data and data science problem sets, and testing and evaluating AI technologies to determine their strengths, weaknesses, and operational value.

Candidates with backgrounds in commercial data, social media, big data, or other large-scale data environments are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will also have experience collaborating with DoW and IC organizations, transitioning innovative solutions into operational environments, and communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and prototype AI/ML-enabled tools, applications, algorithms, and workflows that improve the effectiveness and usability of AI for complex analytical problems.
  • Apply AI/ML techniques to large-scale and complex data problems, including GEOINT, GIS, geospatial, imagery, and other intelligence-related applications.
  • Research, experiment with, and evaluate emerging AI technologies, models, tools, and solutions.
  • Design and execute testing and evaluation approaches to assess the performance, accuracy, scalability, limitations, and operational applicability of AI/ML solutions.
  • Work with large and diverse datasets, including commercial, social media, open-source, intelligence, geospatial, or other high-volume data sources.
  • Rapidly prototype solutions and conduct technical experimentation to demonstrate feasibility and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze test results and provide technical recommendations regarding the strengths, weaknesses, and appropriate use cases of AI/ML solutions.
  • Support the transition of successful research, prototypes, and AI/ML capabilities into operational environments.
  • Collaborate with technical teams, researchers, and DoW and IC organizations on advanced AI/ML research and development efforts.
  • Prepare and deliver technical briefings, demonstrations, and written products for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, including Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, computer vision, deep learning, and multimodal AI.

*This position is designed to be flexible, with responsibilities evolving to meet business needs and enable individual growth.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, or a related technical discipline with 13 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Active TS-SCI with ability to obtain a CI Poly.
  • Hands-on experience developing, prototyping, and applying AI/ML solutions, algorithms, models, and frameworks to complex technical or analytical problems.
  • Experience testing and evaluating AI-based and emerging technologies to assess performance, strengths, weaknesses, limitations, and operational applicability.
  • Strong background working with large-scale, complex, or heterogeneous datasets and data science problem sets; experience with Python and AI/ML or data science frameworks.
  • Experience applying AI/ML to GEOINT, GIS, geospatial, imagery, or remote sensing problems, including geospatial data, spatial analytics, or geospatial algorithms.
  • Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, AI agents, computer vision, multimodal AI, or other emerging AI technologies.
  • Experience working in cloud-based data and AI/ML environments and transitioning research, prototypes, or experimental capabilities into operational environments.
  • Experience collaborating with DoW and Intelligence Community (IC) organizations on advanced technology, research, or AI/ML initiatives.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, research, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. Publications, patents, or other demonstrated AI/ML expertise are a plus.
