Job description

Become a Key Player as a Staff Software Engineer-AI Products

You will shape the technical direction and architecture for an enterprise-grade AI platform, driving scalable, secure AI services used by product and engineering stakeholders. You’ll report to the Director of Platform Services and work fully Remote as part of a Platform Services sub-team, partnering closely with application engineering, cloud infrastructure, applied AI, and product.

Here's How You'll Make an Impact on the Team
  • Own the reference architecture for the AI platform, including API abstractions, prompt and version management, RAG infrastructure, vector retrieval, evaluation harnesses, and model serving.
  • Lead build-vs-buy evaluations, due diligence, and integration planning for AI components.
  • Design and implement foundational data pipelines and infrastructure to support reliable, scalable AI services with security and compliance in mind.
  • Contribute hands-on backend development in Python and RESTful API design; participate in full-stack delivery using React/TypeScript when needed.
  • Build and maintain tooling, SDKs, platform APIs, and evaluation frameworks to enable reproducible model testing and safe AI adoption by product teams.
  • Establish observability and performance tracking for AI services and apply secure-by-default principles (encryption, least privilege, audit logging).
  • Mentor and sponsor other engineers, lead architecture reviews, and drive engineering best practices and documentation.
Here's What You'll Need to Be Successful in This Role
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated cross-team architectural influence.
  • Proven end-to-end delivery of AI-powered features from concept to production.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and RESTful API development (e.g., FastAPI, Django).
  • Experience with full-stack development (React, TypeScript) and integrations with third-party LLM/AI APIs.
  • Familiarity with AWS services (IAM, networking, managed services, storage) and cloud-native architecture.
  • Solid foundation in distributed systems, API design, CI/CD, Docker, version control, and observability tools.
  • Experience with GenAI patterns (RAG pipelines, prompt management, LLM evaluation, agent frameworks) and vector databases/semantic search.
  • Exposure to model serving, MLOps/LLMOps practices, IaC (Terraform/Pulumi), and Kubernetes.
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders and experience authoring RFCs/ADRs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
