Position Overview

The Healthy Mind and Wellness Counseling Clinic is currently seeking a dedicated and flexible Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist to join our team. In this full-time remote position, you will be instrumental in providing high-quality therapeutic services to children and their families, particularly those dealing with developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges. This role requires fluency in either Spanish or Portuguese to effectively communicate with a diverse client base.

Work Environment

This position is fully remote, allowing for flexible scheduling while still engaging directly with clients in their homes or through our outpatient office. Regular participation in team meetings and collaboration with multidisciplinary treatment teams is fundamental to our practice. Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver tailored in-home therapy sessions and facilitate group therapy sessions within our outpatient center, ensuring that therapeutic interventions meet individual client needs effectively.
  • Implement strategies for anger management, coping mechanisms, and social skills enhancement, with a focus on mitigating high-risk behaviors such as self-injurious behavior (SIB) and physical aggression.
  • Assist children and caregivers in improving decision-making skills to navigate and manage behavioral challenges within the home environment.
  • Work closely with Child Family Treatment Teams and other professionals to integrate multidisciplinary approaches in providing comprehensive support to youth and families.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions, including intake assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, in accordance with clinic policies.
  • Contribute to team discussions during monthly meetings, offering insights and recommendations that reflect your professional expertise and the needs of our clients.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on providing therapeutic interventions to children with various developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges. You will engage with a wide range of families, providing essential support and strategies to help children develop their potential, while also equipping caretakers with tools and skills necessary to foster an environment of growth and understanding.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, or a related field is required for this position.
  • An active and unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license is essential.
  • Availability for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week, primarily during after-school hours (4 PM to 7 PM), along with some flexibility for weekend sessions.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing positive behavior support and therapeutic interventions tailored specifically for children.
  • Familiarity with working with children aged 3 to 20, particularly those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is a significant plus.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a registered vehicle for travel to client homes, when necessary.
  • A successful completion of a criminal background check, inclusive of fingerprinting, is mandatory for this role.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in applying evidence-based therapeutic interventions for children with complex behavioral challenges.
  • Proficiency in bilingual therapy services, specifically in Spanish or Portuguese, will enhance your effectiveness in this role.
  • Experience in conducting group therapy sessions, focusing on behavioral or social skills development.
