About the team:
The Insights division drives high quality, innovative research and analysis across BlueLabs' client sectors. Team members manage the underlying data that drives our day-to-day work, analyze and interpret data, provide strategic program insight, drive innovation across sectors, and collaborate closely with both our client and technical teams.
The BlueLabs Insights practice works with non-profit, political, and private sector clients to provide them with high quality analysis to better understand the environment they operate in and inform future decision making.
About the role:
In this newly created position within the Insights division, the Director, Political and Commercial Insights will lead complex quantitative research projects and develop new data-driven solutions for advocacy clients. This client-facing role suits someone with deep analytics expertise, strong communications skills, and the strategic ability to navigate client needs.
As a leader and strategist, the Director will be looking at the big picture, thinking creatively, and working with a team of data scientists and analysts to interpret the data that drives key insights. The Director will develop a deep understanding of the business and client needs and develop solid relationships with key business stakeholders across internal and external teams to provide effective guidance of the deliverables. This role will report to the Senior Director of Commercial Insights.
In this position you will:
  • Lead quantitative research projects (including managing experimental designs, RCTs, tracking digital marketing programs, statistical modeling, and survey development and analysis)
  • Lead the generation of insights and client deliverables
  • Play a critical role in providing valuable strategic business insight and actionable recommendations to senior client leadership
  • Assess the performance of various marketing experiments and RCTs on an ongoing basis to identify new opportunities and insights
  • Oversee a team of data scientists, analysts, and project managers in executing workstreams and managing project needs
  • Design and regularly report on survey programs that both provide business insight and measure outreach effectiveness
  • Provide feedback and partner with our data and product teams to help hone and explain a target universe for our clients

What we are seeking:
  • 6+ years of relevant experience, including advanced analytics leadership
  • Strong familiarity in individual-level statistical modeling, polling, managing experimental designs, randomized control trials (RCTs), or tracking a marketing program is a plus
  • Experience with individual-level voter files is a plus
  • Competency in conducting/analyzing data and navigating large volumes of information to synthesize what's most important and actionable
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a consultative mindset, with the ability to develop strong partnerships and influence
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrate good presentation skills by pairing sound analytics with storytelling

The salary for this position is $140,000 - $160,000 annually.
While we prefer this position to be in the Washington, DC area, we are open to considering candidates from within the U.S.
