We are seeking a passionate Cybersecurity Engineer to support the Army Software Factory (ASWF) skilled in cloud-native security, Infrastructure as Code, pipeline security, AWS security services, and identity management to ensure end-to-end platform protection. The Army Software Factory (ASWF), a first-of-its-kind initiative, is revolutionizing the Army’s approach to software development by training and employing self-sustaining technical talent from across the military and civilian workforce. Guided by the motto “By Soldiers, For Soldiers,” ASWF equips service members to develop mission-critical software solutions independently—especially vital for future contested environments where traditional technical support may be unavailable. This initiative also serves as a strategic prototype to modernize legacy IT processes and build technical readiness across the force to ensure battlefield dominance in the digital age.

Required Skills:

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (Required)

  • DoD 8140.03 Advanced Level Certification: (e.g., CISSP, CASP+/SecurityX, CISM, GCIH) (Required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Technical Discipline (ex. Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Security) from an ABET accredited or CAE designated degree program

  • 8+ years of hands-on Cyber Security engineering experience

  • Strong understanding of cloud-native security principles

  • Experience in Gitlab DevSecOps pipeline security

  • Strong understanding of networking and infrastructure security concepts (logging, monitoring, etc)

  • Skilled in multiple programming languages, Scripting experience - Python, Javascript/Typescript, Bash

  • Experience in auditing and securing AWS S3 buckets configurations

  • Knowledge in AWS security services such as: CloudTrail, Guard Duty, Security Hub, Config, Identity and Access Management (IAM), AWS WAF Shield

  • Hands-on experience with secrets management tooling (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager)

  • Expertise in security tools, including SIEM platforms, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and endpoint detection and response (EDR).

  • Expertise with encryption of data at rest and in transit per FIPS standards, including AWS KMS implementation, TLS enforcement, data tagging/classification, and S3 bucket encryption.

  • Experience with security VPC, security groups, and NACLs

  • Analyze vulnerabilities, conduct vulnerability management, and develop custom security tools

  • Incident Response experience

  • Knowledge of secure coding practices, frameworks, and standards.



Nice to Have:

  • Tool understanding in - Gitlab ultimate, SonarQube, Crowdstrike, Familiarity with Dynamic and Static Application Security Testing (DAST AND SAST), Burp Suite.

  • Able to perform security assessments, model threats, and use penetration testing applications.
