Roles in this field often require expertise in programming languages, automation frameworks, and cloud-based services. Industries like software development, IT, customer support, and manufacturing use remote automation to streamline operations.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a remote automation?

A Remote Automation specialist typically spends their day designing, developing, and maintaining automated processes or test scripts tailored to organizational workflows. This often involves collaborating with software engineers, QA teams, or operations staff through virtual meetings, code reviews, and agile task management systems. VetsEZ is seeking a DevSecOps / Platform Engineer to support a large federal healthcare technology program. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain secure platform services, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and automation capabilities that enable scalable software delivery and reliable operations. You will work closely with development, security, and release teams across shared environments and platforms.

The candidate must reside within the continental US.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and support CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and deployment workflows across development, test, and production environments.
  • Engineer secure and scalable cloud platform capabilities using infrastructure-as-code, container platforms, and automation tooling.
  • Support platform reliability, observability, access controls, secrets management, and operational readiness.
  • Partner with software engineers to improve developer experience, deployment efficiency, and release repeatability.
  • Implement and maintain DevSecOps controls across build, deploy, scanning, monitoring, and incident response workflows.
  • Manage platform components such as containers, orchestration platforms, artifact repositories, and shared runtime services.
  • Troubleshoot environment, pipeline, and deployment issues and support root cause analysis and service restoration.
  • Contribute to platform standards, runbooks, technical documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support change management, patching, upgrades, and operational governance for shared services.
  • Collaborate with architects and leadership to align platform evolution with future-state delivery needs.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, systems engineering, or cloud infrastructure roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with AWS, containerization, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Knowledge of security controls, secrets handling, vulnerability scanning, and compliance-oriented platform engineering.
  • Experience supporting shared environments, release automation, and operational support for enterprise applications.
  • Familiarity with Linux systems, scripting, monitoring tools, and troubleshooting production issues.
  • Strong collaboration skills across engineering, QA, security, and program leadership.
  • Ability to document technical processes and operational procedures clearly.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Government clearance.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting federal contracting environments or Department of Veterans Affairs initiatives is preferred.
  • Familiarity with InterSystems IRIS or healthcare integration platforms is a plus.
  • AWS, Kubernetes, security, or DevOps certifications are highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting regulated environments with auditability and security requirements is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and Git-based delivery ecosystems is a plus.

      Benefits:

      • Medical/Dental/Vision.
