Combining personalized video coaching, education, and motivational content, we bring healthcare professionals, patients, and their families together to solve the $500B medication non-adherence problem. Our mobile app allows patients to connect with a care team of pharmacists, nurses, and health coaches through daily video check-ins, anytime and anywhere. We make it fun for patients to stay on top of their medications, help them address medication challenges, and empower them to improve their health by addressing barriers to adherence related to social determinants of health.
About You
You're a full stack developer who is great with JavaScript/Python, and excited to dive deeper into platform engineering. Maybe you've always been curious about how infrastructure works, how CI/CD pipelines are built, or how to make deployments safer and faster. At Scene, you'll have the chance to expand beyond application development and take on meaningful platform responsibilities while still writing production code.
You'll report to the Platform Engineering Tech Lead and collaborate with the broader Engineering and Product teams. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in a startup environment and wants to level up their skills across infrastructure, automation, and internal tooling, without giving up application development entirely.
Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain full stack features in our JavaScript and python-based applications.
  • Improve and maintain our CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipelines).
  • Automate infrastructure tasks and deployment workflows using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
  • Help monitor and support AWS-based services.
  • Collaborate on improving system observability (e.g., Sentry, CloudWatch).
  • Participate in security and compliance initiatives (SOC 2, ISO 27001).
  • Manage developer access, backups, and recovery planning.
  • Work closely with teammates across product, engineering, and operations.

Experience & Skills:
  • 2+ years of experience in full stack or backend development.
  • Strong scripting skills, experience with Node.js is a +
  • Eagerness to grow into DevOps and platform responsibilities.
  • Interest in AWS, Docker, CI/CD systems, infrastructure automation and monitoring, and security best practices.
  • Comfort scripting with JavaScript or tools like Bash or Python.
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.]
  • Experience in healthcare or other regulated industries is a plus.
  • Spanish fluency is a plus

Working at Scene
We're a diverse team of designers, technologists, researchers, and health enthusiasts committed to helping people with chronic and infectious diseases get better faster. As we strive to improve the health of patients and providers across the world, these values empower us:
  • Entrepreneurship, Optimism, & Forward Momentum: We operate with a sense of competitive urgency and determination because the problem we're solving is unacceptable.
  • Impact, Empathy, & Dedication to End Users: Many of the patients we serve face significant health challenges and inequities. We're determined to change this injustice. We accomplish incredible amounts of work because we know that better outcomes are possible.
  • Radical Candor, Resilience, & Connectivity: We're direct with each other because we respect each other, and we speak up - even when it's uncomfortable. As a startup, we operate with fewer resources, which forces creativity and innovation.
  • Perpetual Growth & Genius Everywhere: Scene is a place where the best ideas win. We look for the genius in everyone, valuing intelligence and passion over pedigree. We're a fast-growing company with big dreams, and we can't wait for you to grow with us.

Benefits
The biggest perk is that you will be working on a game-changing solution in healthcare with people who are talented, motivated, and passionate. Scene has impacted thousands of lives to date, but you will be integral in scaling that impact.
  • Competitive salary
  • Paid vacation, sick, and holiday leave
  • Medical, dental, vision, and other healthcare benefits
  • Remote work with occasional travel for in-person team connectivity
  • 401K retirement savings plan
  • Employee Assistance Program

We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we are not able to sponsor visas at this time.
At Scene, the health and safety of our team are our number one priority. That's why all offers of employment in the U.S. for roles that require or include in-person activities and where legally permitted are contingent on the candidate showing proof of being fully vaccinated (or agreeing to be fully vaccinated by the date of hire) against Covid 19 (according to the CDC) to pass the pre-employment requirements. Individuals with medical issues or religious beliefs or practices that prevent them from getting the vaccine may request a reasonable accommodation.
We carefully hire the best talent we can find, which means actively seeking diversity of beliefs, backgrounds, education, and ways of thinking. We believe in reflecting the diversity of our customers and their patients in our team. We strive to build an inclusive culture where differences are celebrated and leveraged to inform better design and business decisions. Scene is proud to be an equal-opportunity workplace. We are committed to equal opportunity regardless of race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, physical or mental ability, legally protected medical condition, family care status, military or veteran status, marital status, domestic partner status, sexual orientation, or any other basis protected by local, state, or federal laws.
The pay range for this role is:
100,000 - 115,000 USD per year (Remote (Baltimore, MD, US))
