Job description

We are currently looking for a Senior DevOps Automation Engineer for a 100% remote position supporting a large federal government healthcare modernization project. This position will establish and guide enterprise testing, quality engineering, automation, and AI-assisted testing practices supporting U.S. Census Bureau systems. This position is contingent upon contract award.

The Senior DevOps Automation Engineer will work within an Agile, DevSecOps, and cloud-native PMO environment, collaborating with product owners, engineers, architects, cybersecurity teams, program leaders, and Government stakeholders. The selected candidate must be available to travel to the Washington, DC metropolitan area as needed to support onsite meetings, program activities, and customer requirements.

The candidate must reside within the continental US.

Responsibilities

  • Establish enterprise testing standards, procedures, tools, comprehensive test plans, test cases, acceptance criteria, and requirements traceability practices.
  • Design test coverage encompassing functional, integration, system, regression, performance, user acceptance, negative, boundary, and edge-case testing.
  • Develop and maintain automated test suites, validation frameworks, CI/CD quality gates, and continuous-testing capabilities.
  • Evaluate and implement AI-assisted techniques for test-case generation, coverage analysis, synthetic test data, regression testing, defect analysis, and quality assurance.
  • Lead defect triage, root-cause analysis, release-readiness assessments, test documentation, traceability reporting, and quality-control activities.
  • Collaborate with Government stakeholders, program managers, engineers, architects, product owners, cybersecurity teams, and other contractors to improve system quality and reliability.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience, with at least five years of experience leading testing for complex software applications.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with test-automation frameworks, testing tools, defect-management platforms, and automated validation solutions.
  • Experience integrating automated testing, continuous testing, and quality gates into Agile and DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience using AI-assisted testing techniques for test generation, automation development, regression testing, coverage analysis, or defect investigation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving skills with experience validating accuracy, consistency, repeatability, and reliability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical, program, customer, and contractor teams.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience supporting U.S. Census Bureau systems, decennial census operations, census data platforms, or federal modernization initiatives.
  • Experience with AI-powered testing platforms, autonomous or semi-autonomous testing workflows, synthetic test data, and automated defect triage.
  • Experience with accessibility, usability, performance, security, cloud-native, or enterprise data-system testing.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • All selected candidates must successfully complete a background check.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government/Public Trust clearance, including required fingerprinting, when required for the position.
