What is a Remote AutoCAD Interior Designer?

A Remote AutoCAD Interior Designer is a professional who uses AutoCAD software to create detailed interior design plans, layouts, and visualizations for residential or commercial spaces, all while working from a remote location. They collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors through digital communication tools to develop and revise design concepts. Their main responsibilities include drafting floor plans, specifying materials and finishes, and ensuring that designs meet client needs and industry standards. Working remotely allows them to serve clients from various locations without being physically present at the project site.

What key skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a Remote AutoCAD Interior Designer?

To thrive as a Remote AutoCAD Interior Designer, you need a solid background in interior design principles, spatial planning, and proficiency in AutoCAD, often supported by a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with design software such as SketchUp, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite, as well as experience collaborating through remote project management tools, is typically expected. Strong communication, time management, and creative problem-solving skills help you effectively interpret client needs and deliver compelling designs remotely. These skills are crucial for producing accurate, visually appealing designs and ensuring smooth collaboration and client satisfaction in a remote work environment.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote AutoCAD Interior Designers, and how can they be managed effectively?

Remote Autocad Interior Designers often face challenges such as coordinating with clients and team members across different time zones, maintaining clear communication for design revisions, and ensuring file compatibility and security when sharing large CAD files. These challenges can be managed by using collaborative project management tools, scheduling regular virtual meetings, and utilizing secure cloud-based platforms for file sharing. Staying organized and proactively clarifying project requirements also help minimize misunderstandings and improve workflow efficiency.

The role - what you'll do

Barr is seeking an electrical engineer to join our wind and solar collection team. In this hybrid role, you will support the power delivery team, working with multidisciplinary project teams providing electrical engineering and related technical expertise. The person in this position will also be responsible for managing projects, coaching and mentoring less-experienced staff, providing technical leadership, and managing teams to meet clients' needs.

A successful person in this role will have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. The ideal candidate for this position is intrinsically motivated and emphasizes client service. They enjoy working independently and as part of a team, using their technical ability and project management expertise for a variety of projects. They are flexible in working with their project teams and are willing to occasionally modify schedules to meet project deadlines and/or client needs. This person is also relationship-focused, as the role involves serving both internal and external clients.

Your impact - key responsibilities

Projects will focus on design and analysis and will include preparing plans and specifications, writing reports, and developing cost estimations. The work will be related to renewable energy facilities.

  • Project management: proposal development including defining work scopes, deliverables, schedules, and budget. Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing projects. Help ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to team members and clients.

  • Staff development: support the growth and development of team members.

  • Collaboration: build and sustain strong relationships with clients and internal teams. Collaborate across disciplines to align technical approaches with client goals while contributing to a positive, inclusive team culture.

About you - required core competencies

  • Education: bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

  • Experience:

    • At least 5 years of related experience working in a design capacity on projects directly related to job responsibilities described above.

    • Knowledge and experience with solar DC and AC solar collection system design.

    • Experience with power plant controllers.

    • Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described above.

  • Licenses/certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year.

  • Software: Microsoft Office.

  • Driver's license: Possession of a current, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.

Helpful additional experience (not required)

  • 10+ years of related experience.

  • Experience with collection system studies, including ampacity, short circuit, reactive power, grounding, insulation coordination, harmonic, and transient overvoltage.

  • Experience with energy storage facilities.

  • Authoritative capabilities and experience applying industry-standard resource modeling and assessment techniques (PVsyst, Windographer, etc.).

  • Experience with statistical analysis of solar and wind data, resource and net energy production forecasts (including uncertainty/variability analysis and loss assumptions), design, site conditions, and technology suitability.

  • Experience with data collection, post-construction measurement campaigns (including power performance testing), and project contracts.

  • Experience with AutoCAD.

About the opportunity

A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office; a remote arrangement refers to working primarily from a home office.
