Job description

Job Summary:

The primary duties of the Commissioning Project Manager are to ensure the startup and commissioning of the assigned PowerSecure Microgrid equipment is completed safely, on time, on budget, and meets the operational requirements per the client’s specifications. The PM will be responsible for commissioning documentation, 3rd party
equipment testing oversight, commissioning activity oversight, budget control, schedule control, and project closeout. These projects support our Microgrid solutions to include low and medium voltage switchgear, switchboards, and distributed energy resources (DERs).

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):

  • BS in engineering or related field or 8 years equivalent experience.
  • Experience within the power industry is advantageous.
  • CAPM or PMP preferred but not required.
  • Preferred knowledge of Procore, Adobe, AutoCAD, and Vault.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
  • Must be punctual, organized and professional.
  • Strong verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities to assess problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Experience in working with General Contractors and Subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of project management, commissioning processes, schedule development, and budget acumen.
  • Ability to read and communicate in English proficiently.
  • Ability to use computer and proficient with standard office software.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and build collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to identify and manage priorities with urgency, while maintaining high quality and customer service.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain safe and healthy work sites by following company standards and procedures and complying with legal requirements.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the project life cycle: budget, planning, scope definition, design, execution and delivery.
  • Responsible for developing commissioning plan and assembling As-Built drawing packages prior to project startup/commissioning.
  • Validate that engineering deliverables are ready for commissioning.
  • Gatekeep commissioning readiness by validating the commissioning request package is complete (pre-checklist, ICA status, utility testing requirements, coordination study, Engineering FPT) and escalating missing/incorrect inputs to prevent field delays.
  • Collaborate with commissioning manager, project managers, engineering, and commissioning technicians to supervise and coordinate project schedules to ensure the appropriate resources for project-related tasks are assigned.
  • Attend and/or lead cross functional project meetings to provide project feedback and improvement suggestions throughout project life cycle.
  • Track progress toward milestones, budgetary guidelines, risks and prepare reports for management.
  • Track and provide non-commissioning change order cost to project managers.
  • Coordinate with 3rd party testing agencies and/or internal departments on scope of work and provide oversight on equipment startup and testing.
  • Coordinate FPT updates/clarifications with engineering when field site behavior, sequence, or site constraints require documentation changes (FPT + SOO alignment).
  • Responsible for ensuring all project startup and commissioning operational requirements are followed and completed.
  • Responsible for ensuring project startup and commissioning closeout documentation is completed.
  • Provide support to the commissioning technicians.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is remote.
  • Occasional travel may be required for training or meetings.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate different time zones (Central/Eastern/Mountain/Pacific), if necessary.
  • Be flexible for after-hours tasks, as needed.
