Summary of Job Responsibilities

The Audio, Visual, and Collaboration Services Manager is an enterprise service manager that serves as Colorado PERA's enterprise owner for workplace collaboration technology services and provides strategic leadership for future workplace technology investments. This position leads the strategy, design, operation, and continuous improvement of Colorado PERA's workplace collaboration technologies and audio-visual services. This position is accountable for enterprise conference room technologies, live event production, executive and board meeting support, collaboration service standards, vendor partnerships, and workplace technology planning. The role partners closely with IT and business leaders to deliver reliable, high-quality collaboration experiences while developing roadmaps, standards, and investment plans that support the organization's future workplace and technology goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead Enterprise AV and Collaboration Operations - 30%

    • Support high-visibility meetings and events involving senior leadership and executive stakeholders, including:

      • 5 annual Board of Directors meetings (1 fully remote session)

      • Company-wide hybrid meetings

      • Employee engagement events and town halls

    • Configure, operate, and support multi-camera systems, audio mixers, displays, microphones, lighting, streaming platforms, and other AV technologies to ensure high-quality audio and video for both in-room participants and remote attendees

    • Coordinate live switching, encoding, and broadcasting of events

    • Travel to off-site venues to support critical events

    • Manage and administer more than 25 Microsoft Teams and Zoom rooms

    • Provide responsive technical support for conference rooms, executive offices, and collaboration spaces.

    • Deploy, monitor, update, and troubleshoot conference room technology to ensure peak performance and reliability

    • Maintain operational documentation

    • Provide mentoring and training to IT colleagues on AV technologies, configurations, and support issues

    • Develop operational procedures, knowledge transfer practices, and staff onboarding materials to support future growth of collaboration technology services.

    • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and work direction for assigned staff, contractors, interns, or future collaboration services team members.

    • Serve as the primary technology advisor for executive meetings, Board meetings, employee town halls, and other high-profile collaboration events.

    • Establish and maintain enterprise standards, governance practices, service offerings, and support models for AV and collaboration technologies.

    • Establish service level expectations and operational performance metrics for AV and collaboration services.

    • Develop user training, adoption materials, and best practices for enterprise collaboration technologies.

    • Act as the escalation point for complex enterprise AV and collaboration issues.

  • Lead Enterprise AV and Workplace Technology Projects - 25%

    • Lead AV initiatives from planning through deployment

    • Coordinate internal stakeholders, vendors, contractors, and technology partners to ensure successful project delivery

    • Review contracts, recommend improvements, and interpret AV systems design documentation

    • Lead workplace technology initiatives from planning through implementation and operational transition.

    • Provide technology leadership for office remodels, conference center upgrades, workplace modernization initiatives, and future facility projects.

    • Serve as the primary technology lead for workplace collaboration requirements associated with office relocations, facility renovations, and future headquarters planning initiatives.

    • Coordinate architects, contractors, consultants, business stakeholders, and technology vendors to ensure successful deployment of workplace technology solutions.

    • Develop project plans, budgets, schedules, risk mitigation strategies, and executive status reporting for collaboration technology initiatives.

    • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and infrastructure standards.

  • Own Workplace Collaboration Services - 20%

    • Own Colorado PERA's enterprise collaboration technology strategy, including Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, digital signage platforms, streaming platforms, presentation technologies, and future collaboration capabilities.

    • Develop and maintain technology standards, lifecycle plans, and reference designs for workplace collaboration environments.

    • Create and maintain a multi-year roadmap for collaboration and workplace technology services.

    • Define staffing, capability, and service delivery requirements necessary to support the growth and maturity of enterprise collaboration services.

    • Accountable for the overall health, availability, adoption, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement of enterprise collaboration technology services.

    • Monitor service quality, user satisfaction, and technology utilization metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

    • Develop and report service performance metrics, technology adoption metrics, and roadmap progress to IT leadership on a regular basis.

    • Partner with business leaders to identify collaboration challenges and develop technology solutions that improve employee and stakeholder experiences.

    • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend investments that align with organizational goals and workplace needs.

  • Vendor, Contract, and Budget Management - 15%

    • Manage relationships with AV vendors, consultants, system integrators, and support providers, including performance management, service reviews, issue escalation, and ongoing optimization of vendor-delivered services.

    • Participate in procurement activities, technology evaluations, vendor selections, and contract negotiations.

    • Monitor vendor performance, service levels, risks, and contract obligations.

    • Develop, manage, and be accountable for annual operating and capital budgets for AV and collaboration technologies, including spending forecasts, technology refresh planning, and investment prioritization.

    • Forecast equipment lifecycle replacement, technology refresh, and future investment needs.

    • Provide recommendations to leadership regarding strategic technology investments and cost optimization opportunities.

  • Strategy, Innovation and Continuous Improvement - 10%

    • Present technology strategies, business cases, roadmap recommendations, and service improvement plans to IT leadership.

    • Lead planning activities related to future workplace collaboration services, workplace modernization initiatives, and long-term technology investment strategies.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Audio Engineering, Broadcast Technology, Information Technology or related field, and 7 years relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Strong experience providing AV support for live events required

  • Experience supporting executive-level events strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated experience designing AV systems for live production and corporate environments

  • Deep understanding of AV industry hardware and software: Crestron, Neat Bars, Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms

  • Proficiency with multi-camera video production, live switching, and streaming/encoding platforms

  • Strong knowledge of audio systems, including microphones, mixers, DSPs, and signal flow

  • AV-specific or related certifications preferred (Certified Programmer, Crestron Technician)

  • Working knowledge of IT systems, including Windows/Mac OS, networking, cybersecurity, and endpoint support

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure during live events

  • Professional presence when supporting executive leadership and board members

  • Effective interpersonal, problem solving, anticipatory, and decision-making skills

  • Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), CTS-D, CTS-I, Crestron, Microsoft Teams Rooms, or equivalent industry certifications.

  • Experience supporting conference center, board room, broadcast, streaming, or large-scale hybrid collaboration environments.

  • Experience participating in workplace technology planning, facility technology design, or headquarters construction projects.
