Are you an AI-focused engineer passionate about building production-ready products that transform legal workflows?
Join Esquire as an AI Senior Engineer-a high-impact role where you'll build AI-powered services that enhance deposition workflows and help evolve our deposition intelligence platform.
Why Choose Esquire?
Esquire is a leader in legal support services, known for innovation, professionalism, and delivering exceptional quality. As part of our team, you'll help build intelligent tools that improve transcript processing, attorney workflows, and deposition insights at scale. At Esquire, we are focused on Getting it Right for our clients, our partners, and our employees, and we empower our teams to create secure, scalable technology that delivers meaningful business value.
About the Role
As an AI Senior Engineer, you'll design, build, and deploy AI-powered products and services across the product platform. You'll deliver production-grade transcript intelligence, scalable infrastructure, RAG-based search and retrieval, and attorney-facing AI features that support deposition preparation, real-time assistance, and post-deposition analysis.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain AI-powered APIs for high-volume transcript ingestion, analysis, and structured output delivery
  • Develop transcript intelligence systems using deterministic processing, LLM-based analysis, and audio review
  • Build and optimize RAG pipelines, including document parsing, embeddings, vector storage, and retrieval strategies
  • Develop attorney-facing AI features for deposition preparation, real-time assistance, and post-deposition workflows
  • Contribute to platform consolidation, service integration, and internal workflow automation
  • Design, implement, and operate distributed systems using synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns
  • Debug and maintain services across Rails APIs, TypeScript services, and Google Cloud infrastructure
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to define architecture, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver scalable solutions
  • Write, test, and deploy production code across the full software development lifecycle
  • Maintain observability across services, including logging, tracing, and error monitoring
  • Document technical decisions, track work clearly, and communicate progress and blockers effectively
What You'll Need
  • Skills: Strong problem-solving, communication, organization, and technical ownership skills
  • AI/ML: Demonstrated expertise in AI/ML application development, LLM integration, prompt engineering, evaluation, and AI-assisted development tools
  • RAG: Ability to build and maintain RAG systems, including document processing, embeddings, and retrieval optimization
  • Technical: Strong programming skills in Python and at least one of TypeScript or Ruby
  • Cloud: Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably Google Cloud Platform, including event-driven architectures
  • Architecture: Experience with distributed systems, microservices, API design, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure as code
  • Experience: 7+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend or full stack development
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Attributes: Collaborative, low-ego, team-first mindset with a commitment to documentation, testing, and continuous improvement. Must speak English fluently.
What Success Looks Like
  • Delivery of production-ready AI features within defined timelines, including initial deployment within the first 90 days
  • Improved transcript processing accuracy, scalability, and system reliability
  • Successful deployment and performance of RAG-based search and retrieval capabilities
  • System uptime, latency, and error rates within acceptable thresholds for high-volume processing
  • High-quality, maintainable code with strong test coverage and documentation
  • Effective collaboration and communication across the engineering team
Work Environment
This is a fully remote position. The position requires focus, collaboration, and the ability to manage complex technical workstreams while supporting scalable AI product development.
