What is a Remote Audio Visual Design Engineer?

A Remote Audio Visual (AV) Design Engineer is a professional who designs and develops AV systems such as video conferencing setups, sound systems, and integrated multimedia solutions, all while working from a remote location. They collaborate with clients and teams virtually to create technical drawings, system specifications, and integration plans tailored to specific needs. Their responsibilities often include selecting appropriate AV equipment, ensuring system compatibility, and providing remote support during installation and troubleshooting. This role requires strong technical knowledge, communication skills, and proficiency with AV design software.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Audio Visual Design Engineers, and how can they be addressed?

  • Perform code reviews, mentor engineers, and promote best practices for maintainability, reliability, performance, and security.
  • Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, defect remediation, and production support activities across multiple environments.
  • Optimize backend application performance, logging, monitoring, and observability capabilities to improve operational efficiency and reliability.

  • Work within Agile delivery processes and support sprint, increment, and release commitments across cross-functional teams.
  • Assist with ad hoc tasks and emerging challenges as required to support the team's goals and organizational priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in backend engineering, enterprise application development, or software engineering environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful API development, and service-oriented or microservices architectures.
  • Experience with SQL, relational database design, and backend data integration patterns.
  • Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, secure application development, and enterprise security best practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and production support operations.
  • Proven ability to lead technical implementation efforts and mentor junior or less-experienced engineers.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, design, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments with cross-functional technical teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government clearance.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federal healthcare programs, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) initiatives, or regulated technology delivery environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with InterSystems IRIS, FHIR APIs, healthcare interoperability workflows, or healthcare integration platforms is a plus.
  • Experience with containerized deployments, AWS cloud services, or platform modernization initiatives is desirable.
  • Relevant cloud, Agile, or software development certifications are a plus.
  • Experience supporting high-availability or high-volume enterprise systems preferred.
