What is remote audio book recording?

Remote audio book recording is the process of narrating and recording audiobooks from a location outside of a traditional studio, typically from home. Narrators use professional microphones, audio interfaces, and recording software to ensure high-quality audio. The recorded files are then edited and submitted digitally to publishers or audiobook platforms. This setup allows narrators to work flexibly and collaborate with clients worldwide without needing to commute to a physical studio.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote audio book recording professional?

To thrive in Remote Audio Book Recording, you need strong vocal performance abilities, clear diction, script interpretation skills, and experience with audio editing, often supported by a background in acting or voiceover work. Familiarity with digital audio workstations (DAWs) like Audacity or Adobe Audition, quality microphones, and soundproofing techniques is essential. Attention to detail, self-motivation, and time management are crucial soft skills for meeting deadlines and maintaining consistency without in-person oversight. These skills ensure high-quality, engaging audio content and efficient remote production for publishers and listeners.

What are some common challenges faced by remote audiobook narrators, and how can they be addressed?

Remote audiobook narrators often encounter challenges such as maintaining consistent audio quality, managing vocal strain during long recording sessions, and meeting publisher deadlines independently. To address these issues, it's important to invest in a quiet, acoustically treated recording space and quality equipment. Regular vocal warm-ups and breaks can help prevent fatigue, while organizing a clear recording and editing schedule ensures timely delivery. Collaboration with editors and producers is typically done via email or project management tools, so strong communication skills are also essential.

Job description

Position Overview

We are searching for proactive and dedicated Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) to become integral members of our innovative telehealth community at Advocate Healthcare Services. In this full-time role, you will utilize our state-of-the-art digital platform to provide essential mental health support and counseling services to clients across the Lake Oswego, Oregon area. Join us in transforming the way mental health services are delivered, ensuring accessibility and convenience for both counselors and clients.

About the Organization

Advocate Healthcare Services is committed to enhancing mental well-being through modern technology and compassionate support. Our mission is to offer comprehensive mental health services that address diverse needs, placing a significant emphasis on low-acuity clients, thereby allowing our counselors to focus on what they do bestโ€”supporting individuals in their mental health journeys. With a strong commitment to both client care and counselor satisfaction, we boast an extensive network of over 10,000 mental health professionals, creating a rich community of collaboration and shared knowledge.

Work Environment

This position is designed for remote work, allowing you to connect with clients from the comfort of your own home or preferred workspace. Our telehealth platform is equipped with a variety of tools that facilitate seamless communication and monitoring of client progress, including goal-setting features, online journaling, audio and video chats, and other interactive clinical resources. This flexible setting empowers you to tailor your work schedule to fit your lifestyle while maintaining a work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Professional Counselor at Advocate Healthcare Services, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of client mental health to develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Utilizing clinical judgment to provide effective therapy, addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, relationship problems, and grief.
  • Employing various forms of communicationโ€”including video calls, audio messages, and interactive journalingโ€”to engage clients and track their progress.
  • Managing your case load while maintaining flexibility to accommodate clients' needs and preferences.
  • Participating in continuous professional development through shared knowledge within the counselor community on our platform.
  • Documenting session progress and maintaining accurate client records on our secure platform.
  • Participating in marketing your services with a personalized website and profile tailored to your expertise and demographic preferences.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The clients you will work with primarily include adults struggling with lower acuity mental health issues. All clients are screened to ensure they align with your professional focus, which minimizes the complexity of cases handled. Common concerns include mild to moderate anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, relationship issues, and grief counseling. This targeted client population allows you to focus your efforts on therapeutic techniques and interventions that yield effective outcomes.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • A Masterโ€™s or Doctorate degree in Counseling or a closely related field.
  • A valid, full independent LPCC (Licensed Professional Counselor) license in the state of Oregon.
  • A reliable internet connection and a working computer (desktop or laptop); please note that tablets are not compatible with our platform).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse patient base.
Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, the following experiences would be beneficial:

  • Previous experience in a telehealth environment, utilizing digital platforms for counseling.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems and online counseling tools.
  • Experience working with low-acuity mental health issues and adult populations.
Compensation and Benefits

This full-time role offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 115,000 to 130,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, we provide a monthly healthcare stipend for full-time counselors, and you will have free access to the platform's services to address your own mental health needs, ensuring you remain an active, healthy member of our community. Enjoy the benefit of a flexible work schedule, adjusting hours to meet your personal and professional demands.
