Position Schedule / Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Position Summary: Serves as Subject Matter Expert on large global infrastructure projects that require partnership of cross-fuctional IT resources. Partner with architects and engineers to collaborate plan, design, implement, enable, promote, and assist in the adoption of DevOps methodologies and standards as well Cloud based solutions (IaaS, PaaS, CaaS, FaaS, and SaaS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and provide expert guidance to teams on Agile development and Agile infrastructure principles and practices including:
    • Infrastructure as Code
    • Provisioning
    • Continuous Integration, Delivery, and Deployment
    • Test automation
  • Focus on future cloud-based technology growth options to support organizational maturity.
  • Plan, design, implement, and educate on DevOps tools, practices and usage, Cloud based platforms (AWS and GCP)
  • Provide leadership to the organization to identify and remove infrastructure and system level impediments which limit productivity and quality.
  • Identify and implement process improvements which support and complement DevOps methodologies and Cloud usage.
  • Track and provide feedback to teams and organizations on DevOps adoption
  • Provide direction for and design solutions for infrastructure, security, deployment, scaling, metrics, and IT operations.
  • Conduct technology reviews and internal audits to ensure existing solutions meet business and security needs.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field or an equivalent level of work experience.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in overseeing mission critical enterprise level systems.
  • 8 years of experience working with virtual machines, virtual networking, and storage using a third party infrastructure.
  • Experience with infrastructure s code implementation and developing Cloudformation templates.
  • Production experience with developing and employing GCP and/or AWS cloud services with strong understanding of the implementation, best practices, and usage of at least the following core services:
    • IAM
    • Networking (VPC, interconnectivity, load balancing, and DNS)
    • Compute (VMs and containers)
    • Storage (managed relational and nosql databases, object store, file store, etc)
    • KMS
    • Encryption in transit
  • 5+ years' experience administering and troubleshooting Linux based systems
  • 2+ years' experience with Docker
  • Broad experience developing cloud migrating solutions
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting middleware including Nginx, Apache HTTP, Jetty, Tomcat

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven ability to fully work through project life-cycle, (i.e., discovery, analysis, architecture, design, documentation, building, migration, automation, readiness).
  • Able to configure and install relational databases
  • Installing and configuring monitoring and metrics collections solutions for server resources, middleware, and custom applications - Nagios, Cacti, Ganglia, CollectD, Graphite, and or NewRelic

FLEX WORK IN WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is currently able to work remotely from a home office location for day-to-day operations unless occasional travel for meetings, collaborative activities, or team building activities is specified by leadership. Senior Cloud Engineer will earn a competitive annual salary of $119,808 - $165,000 with annual bonus potential, based on performance.

  • Part-time employee PTO hours are calculated based upon the standard weekly hours the employee is scheduled to work and will accrue at a minimum of 3 hours per month.
  • Paid Holidays:
  • Full-time employees are eligible for 10 company-paid holidays annually, in addition to 1 mental health day, 2 floating holidays and 1 volunteer day. Holidays vary by business unit schedules.
  • Part-time employees are eligible for 8 company-paid holidays annually, in addition to 1 mental health day and 2 floating holidays. Holidays vary by business unit schedules.
  • Paid leave programs, including parental, bereavement, jury duty, and military leave.
