Are you a strategic senior art director who is equally comfortable defining the look of a brand as you are concepting big campaign ideas? Do you like to be in the thick of it, pushing all the pixels, while also thinking about long-term strategy and how brands can grow and evolve over time? We're looking for a capable and collaborative senior art director who wants to join our fast-growing, dynamic company and help us make our clients even more successful by putting your skills to work.
A senior art director at CLUTCH will have plenty of variety. One day you might be creating a campaign selling soybean seeds to the farmers and dealers of the Upper Midwest. The next day you might be developing social that promotes building with concrete block to make sure folks in Florida know how well concrete block construction can stand up to hurricanes. Important stuff! You'll partner with writers and work across the agency creating the kinds of things clients keep coming back for. Our ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, a problem solver, and a zero-ego maker.
CLUTCH is ambitious and always driving our own growth as well, and we're looking for creative talent who wants to help build and be part of our future. Did we mention we're completely remote? We are, but there's also an office in NE Minneapolis, if working at home isn't really your thing anymore.
What we'll expect from this role
• Creative Concept Development: You can understand what a client is trying to do with their brand and develop distinctive and compelling creative concepts that will get it done. You are capable of quickly generating many ideas that are all on strategy but solve the brief differently. You have visual range and also the taste and discernment to know what's right for a brand, and what's not.
• Design Execution: You can play in all the sandboxes and are what the industry would call a "designerly art director." You've got all those art director skills, but you can also flex in the design world. And you've done your fair share of logos when the brief called for it.
• Photo Art Direction: You know good photography from bad, and you know which one each brand needs. You have no problem establishing a photo style or developing the inspiration for a photo shoot.
• Collaboration: You are good to work with, you pull your weight, and you are someone people can rely on to deliver on your part of the deal. You bring ideas and solutions, and also listen to others when they bring some, too.
• Client Presentation: You are comfortable presenting your ideas to the folks who are paying the tab and can effectively communicate the why behind the creative decisions and all the reasons they're right for the brand. You can also have calm and collected conversations if clients push back.
• General Awareness: You stay current with design trends, technology, and industry best practices to keep yourself innovative and relevant. Experience with constantly evolving AI tools-and a commitment to becoming as proficient with them as possible-is a very big bonus.
The skills you'll need:
• Business-minded, entrepreneurial, strategic, analytical, and flexible.
• Excellent time management skills to hit deadlines and juggle a creative workload.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Both are equally important.
• Strong communication skills, essential in remote arrangements.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
The experience you should already have:
• A creative portfolio that demonstrates a range of your creative work: different styles, mediums, and types of brands.
• Typically, 8+ years of experience at an agency or on an in-house brand team-but if your portfolio proves you can do the work, the exact number matters less.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma, plus enough familiarity with PowerPoint to be able to work in there if necessary.
Salary range:
• $110,000 - $150,000 annually
This represents the anticipated hiring range for the position. Final compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. For candidates with exceptional experience and expertise, compensation above the posted range may be considered.
