The Services Field Application Engineer for ABB will provide technical support to the Regional Commercial team in the development of field services proposals for power delivery, power utilization and automation equipment and systems. In this role you will identify and propose value-added service solutions to a broad range of industrial, utility, and commercial customers including Power Distribution upgrades, Relay upgrades, and Arc Flash Mitigation Solutions. In this fast paced, customer facing role, you will require strong field service technical skills and highly effective communication skills.

The work model for the role is: remote (#Li-Remote) supporting several states in the West Region (AZ, CO, IA, NE, NV, NM, UT, WY) commercial team. Living options are within the covered area - ability and willingness to travel 50% of the time within coverage area is required.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Drive Business Growth: Identify and develop new business opportunities, introduce new products/services, and contribute to regional sales, orders, profitability, and ITO quality goals.

  • Deliver Technical Solutions: Develop and present technical solutions aligned with customer needs, influence specifications, and prepare high-quality proposal content highlighting scope, benefits, and compliance.

  • Lead Project & Proposal Execution: Provide technical leadership for Field Service proposals, including site assessments, material/labor requirements, competitive analysis, and support for engineering work scopes, schedules, and cost estimates.

  • Ensure Operational Alignment: Communicate fulfillment requirements to sourcing and operations, document competitor activities, and support NPI programs to maintain a strong market position.

Qualifications for the role:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred) from an accredited college or university with 6 years of experience OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 10 years of experience (experience with the application of Power Distribution upgrades, Relay upgrades, and Arc Flash Mitigation Solutions preferred).

  • Experience in application engineering or field engineering in power delivery products and systems and experience working with customers in the Oil & Gas, metals, mining, paper, Power Gen, data center, commercial building or similar business segments preferred.

  • Experienced in reviewing customer specifications, developing proposals, and managing contract development and negotiations preferred.

  • Strong oral and written communication abilities, skilled in delivering impactful presentations and engaging with all organizational levels.

  • Proven interpersonal and leadership skills with a customer-focused mindset; adept at working in team-oriented environments to create complex, integrated solutions.

  • Creative problem solver with an innovative approach to challenges, capable of developing and writing technical specifications and proposals leveraging the full ABB portfolio.

  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $98,700 and $157,920 annually and is eligible for a short-term incentive plan/annual bonus.
