Lead Linguistic Engineer – Egyptian Arabic

Role Summary

The Lead Linguistic Engineer serves as the primary linguistic owner for their assigned language. This role defines linguistic rules, guidelines, and quality frameworks while mentoring Senior Linguists and Linguistic Engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end linguistic quality and correctness for the assigned language.
  • Develop linguistic guidelines, rulebooks, and standards for annotation and evaluation.
  • Review complex linguistic cases, escalations, and edge-case exceptions.
  • Oversee NLU, ASR, and TTS linguistic evaluations.
  • Conduct weekly calibrations and oversee quality stability.
  • Mentor Senior Linguists and Linguistic Engineers within the language pod.
  • Support test set creation, adversarial case identification, and diagnostics.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of experience in linguistics or linguistic engineering.
  • Native-level proficiency in the assigned language (Marathi, Tamil, or Arabic).
  • Deep knowledge of grammar, morphology, syntax, semantics, dialectal variations, and orthography.
  • Strong analytical and linguistic decision-making skills.
