Role Summary

The Portfolio Director, Prevention and Treatment leads the strategic direction, development, and performance of Covetrus' Para/Bios (Prevention) and Vet & Human Pharmaceuticals (Treatment) categories. This role is responsible for shaping category strategy across both the prevention and treatment continuum, optimizing product mix, and driving margin performance. You will work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Pricing, Proprietary Brands, and Strategic Sourcing to drive innovation, expand market share, and create differentiated value for our customers across both portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Execute Strategy
    Refine and lead the strategic roadmap for both the Para/Bios (Prevention) and Vet & Human Pharmaceuticals (Treatment) categories, aligning with overall business objectives and market trends. Ensure a cohesive strategy that reflects the full clinic journey from prevention through treatment.
  • Portfolio & Financial Management
    Own category-level P&L performance across Para/Bios and Pharma, including margin, and forecasting accuracy. Drive continuous improvement in product mix and portfolio performance for both categories.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership
    Partner with Sales, Marketing, eCommerce, Pricing, Finance, Sourcing, and Operations to build and implement go-to-market strategies, campaigns, and pricing models spanning prevention and treatment product lines.
  • Market Intelligence & Innovation
    Analyze customer needs, market trends, competitive dynamics, and technology advancements across both parasiticide/biologics and pharmaceutical markets to identify new product opportunities and inform decision-making.
  • Supplier & Partner Engagement
    Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing to support vendor performance, supplier discussions and influence joint business plans across key Para/Bios and Pharma suppliers.
  • Product Development Collaboration
    Work closely to identify and define Proprietary Brand product requirements, validate early-stage concepts, and bring new products to market across both prevention and treatment portfolios.
  • Stakeholder Communication
    Communicate category strategy, performance metrics, and key initiatives across both Para/Bios and Pharma to senior leaders and internal stakeholders to drive alignment and engagement.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance or a related field required
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, category leadership, business development, or supplier management
  • Experience in pharmaceuticals, parasiticides/biologics, healthcare, or animal health strongly preferred
  • Proven track record of driving financial results and leading strategic initiatives across multiple product categories
