Job description

Job Description
Work Arrangement
This role is hybrid in Austin TX, or Warren MI. Employees who live within 50 miles of a GM hub are expected to work from the office three days per week. Remote candidates may be considered based on role requirements.
The Role
As a Senior Designer in GM's Human Interface Design organization, you'll lead mobile design for GM Commercial Fleet while contributing across the broader product experience. Deep mobile product experience is required, but this is not an exclusively mobile role. You'll own experiences across mobile web, iOS, Android, and tablets, while also integrating new capabilities into desktop web products. You'll take products from 0-to-1 through launch and create scalable patterns across platforms.
You'll shape future product vision, challenge existing solutions, and simplify complex fleet workflows for managers and drivers. Working with product, engineering, research, business, and leadership partners, you'll turn customer needs and technical possibilities into clear, measurable experiences across mobile and desktop. You'll also be comfortable incorporating feedback from diverse stakeholders while maintaining a strong design point of view.
What You'll Do
  • Lead 0-to-1 design initiatives across products and platforms, owning mobile design direction across mobile web, iOS, Android, and tablets while contributing to desktop web experiences.
  • Translate complex problems into user flows, frameworks, prototypes, and high-quality interaction and visual designs across platforms and form factors.
  • Own design work from concept through launch, including production mobile applications and the integration of new features into established desktop web experiences.
  • Partner closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, content designers, and other designers to explore feasibility, iterate, and ship high-quality experiences.
  • Communicate design concepts, strategies, and recommendations through clear storytelling that aligns cross-functional partners and leadership, while incorporating feedback from diverse stakeholders.
  • Champion accessible, inclusive, human-centered, and scalable design across products and platforms.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • 5+ years of digital product design experience, including extensive hands-on experience designing and launching production mobile applications across iOS and Android.
  • Experience designing across mobile web, native mobile, tablets, and desktop web, with a portfolio showing end-to-end work from 0-to-1 through launch-not just concepts.
  • Ability to shape product vision, work through ambiguity, and challenge existing solutions while turning complex problems into clear flows, prototypes, and shipped experiences.
  • Strong systems thinking and experience creating scalable experiences across platforms and within evolving design systems.
  • Experience designing for complex products or workflows and connecting customer needs, business goals, and technical possibilities.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaborating with product, engineering, research, business, and leadership partners-including incorporating feedback from diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong visual, verbal, and written communication skills, along with proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools.
  • Formal training in User Experience, Interface Design, Visual Design, or a related discipline-or equivalent professional experience.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Experience designing B2B or enterprise mobile products in automotive, fleet, manufacturing, logistics, or other complex operational environments.
  • 7+ years of experience in the automotive industry, design agencies, or technology companies, designing simplified solutions for complex products and workflows.
  • Experience defining cross-platform design strategies and scalable interaction patterns across mobile web, iOS, Android, tablets, and desktop web.
  • Hands-on experience designing AI-enabled experiences and translating emerging AI capabilities into intuitive, useful, and responsible solutions for business users.
  • Demonstrated design leadership, including leading through influence, fostering collaboration, raising creative quality, and helping organizations strengthen their mobile design practice.
  • Experience working in lean and agile environments, including sprint planning, iterative design, and close partnership with product and engineering teams.
  • Experience designing connected experiences that bridge digital products with physical vehicles, devices, or operational environments.
  • Experience applying accessibility and inclusive design standards or contributing to the consistency of design systems across products and platforms.
