Job description

About the role and team

Engineering at Uber means building for real-world impact under real-world constraints. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will architect mission-critical systems that power the foundation of trust across our global marketplace - from ensuring millions of earners are paid accurately and on time to scaling the simulation platforms that drive billions in pricing decisions. You will work on uniquely ambitious projects where performance, reliability, and scale cannot be separated.

The problems here are complex, the systems are massive, and the pace is fast. You'll need to make smart decisions with imperfect information and own your work end-to-end: from the first design doc to debugging production issues when the stakes are highest. We are looking for technical powerhouses who think in systems, stay calm under pressure, and care about building things that actually work. If you're energized by challenge and motivated by real-world impact-this is where you'll grow.

Rate of Pay:                 $264,514 to $317,416 per Year
You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits. More details can be found at the following link https://www.uber.com/careers/benefits.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop, and test software applications.
  • Design, develop, and/or test software applications using company technology stack.
  • Apply technical knowledge to evaluate complex data, developments, and projects in order to provide recommendations to resolve technical issues.
  • Support the company's business operations and improve engineering productivity.
  • Build software components that can be integrated into a fully functional software system.
  • Solve production issues in product and system reliability.
  • Work closely with a broad range of stakeholders to convert business needs into scalable, cross-functional solutions.
  • Collaborate with backend and cross-platform engineers to design and deliver key features for the identity platform.
  • Build seamless and user-friendly native Android interfaces using modern frameworks and backend integrations.
  • Partner with Data Science, Design, and Product teams to monitor feature performance and iteratively enhance the user experience based on insights.
  • Coordinate with various Uber product teams and lines of business to leverage the platform in addressing complex challenges.
  • May telecommute.

Basic Qualifications

  • Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field followed by 7 years of progressive, postbaccalaureate experience in job offered or in a Software Engineer-related occupation.
  • Position requires:
    • Android application development using Kotlin and the Android SDK for large-scale, production mobile applications;
    • Application architecture using MVVM and Clean Architecture principles for scalable and maintainable mobile systems;
    • Asynchronous and concurrent programming using Kotlin Coroutines and reactive streams (Flow);
    • Client-server communication using RESTful APIs for integration with distributed backend services;
    • Secure authentication and authorization using OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect, including token-based session management and encrypted credential storage;
    • User interface development using Jetpack Compose and XML-based layouts, following Material Design standards;
    • Local data persistence using SQLite and Room database for offline-capable mobile applications;
    • Source control, CI/CD, and production release workflows using Git-based version control systems in enterprise environments.

Ready to Ride?

This isn't the kind of place where you follow a playbook - it's where you help write one. If you're driven by impact, energized by challenge, and ready to shape how the world moves - we'd love to hear from you.

You may be eligible for bonuses, equity, and other compensation, as well as a range of benefits. Explore our benefits.
