What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a remote android position?

To thrive as a Remote Android Developer, you need strong proficiency in Java and Kotlin, a solid understanding of Android SDK, and experience deploying apps to the Google Play Store. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as Android Studio, along with certifications like Google Associate Android Developer, are highly valuable. Excellent time management, independent problem-solving, and proactive communication skills distinguish top performers in remote settings. These capabilities ensure high-quality, maintainable apps and seamless collaboration while working outside a traditional office.

What is a remote android?

A Remote Android job involves developing, testing, and maintaining Android applications while working from a remote location. Developers collaborate with teams using online communication and project management tools. Responsibilities may include coding in Kotlin or Java, debugging issues, and optimizing app performance. Remote Android developers often work for startups, enterprises, or as freelancers. Strong self-discipline and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

What are some of the main challenges of working remotely as an Android developer, and how can I overcome them?

Remote Android Developers often face challenges such as maintaining clear communication with distributed teams, managing time zone differences, and staying motivated without in-person oversight. To overcome these issues, it's important to leverage collaborative tools like Slack and Jira, participate in daily stand-ups or regular team syncs, and establish a consistent work routine. Being proactive in asking for feedback and regularly sharing progress can also help bridge gaps. By staying organized and engaged, remote Android Developers can remain productive and consistently deliver high-quality work.

Job description

Why Youโ€™ll Love Working at Quorum

At Quorum Federal Credit Union, we are a cutting-edge credit union that operates as a technology company, delivering innovative financial solutions to our members. As a remote organization, we thrive on collaboration and recognize outstanding performance. We are the ideal workplace for self-motivated individuals who are committed to organizational success and eager to join a dynamic team of professionals. We stand out as a best-in-class employer, offering a unique and supportive work environment that fosters personal and professional growth. Our culture is built on valuing teamwork, recognizing achievements, and providing the tools and resources needed to excel. If you are looking for a place where you can make a meaningful impact, enjoy a flexible and fulfilling work experience, and be part of a forward-thinking team, Quorum Federal Credit Union is the perfect fit for you.ย

How Youโ€™ll Make an Impact

The Vice President of Cybersecurity serves as the senior cybersecurity leader for the credit union and reports directly to the COO. This role leads the enterprise cybersecurity program as a standalone risk function, with responsibility for strategy, governance, cyber risk oversight, regulatory engagement, and executive-level reporting, while remaining separate from daily technology delivery.

What Youโ€™ll Be Doingย

  • Develop and lead the enterprise cybersecurity strategy, roadmap, policies, and governance structure in alignment with the credit unionโ€™s risk appetite and business objectives.
  • Oversee information security risk management, including risk assessments, control maturity, issue remediation tracking, and alignment to regulatory expectations.
  • Establish and oversee an enterprise cybersecurity assessment and assurance program, including periodic internal security assessments, independent third-party assessments, penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and security maturity reviews. Findings should be prioritized, tracked through remediation, and regularly reported to executive leadership.
  • Lead security-related regulatory, audit, and board reporting, including updates on cybersecurity posture, incidents, third-party exposure, and emerging threats.
  • Establish and oversee the credit unionโ€™s third-party cybersecurity risk program, including due diligence standards, control reviews, contract security provisions, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Provide executive oversight for IAM, cloud, and security architecture standards.
  • Own cybersecurity incident response leadership at the executive level, including escalation management, tabletop exercises, post-incident reporting, and lessons learned.
  • Lead Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, and Cyber Resilience planning.
  • Lead AI and data governance efforts related to cybersecurity, including secure use of AI tools, model oversight coordination, data protection controls, and governance expectations.
  • Partner with Digital Delivery, Infrastructure, Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, and business leaders while maintaining independent cybersecurity oversight.
  • Supervise the Security Operations Manager and ensure effective day-to-day execution of operational security activities.

What You Bring to the Teamย

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in cybersecurity, information systems, computer science, business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • CISSP and CSM Certifications Required; GIAC-GSEC preferred
  • 10 or more years of progressive cybersecurity experience, including senior leadership responsibility in financial services or another regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with security strategy, governance, incident response, identity, cloud security, third-party risk, and board/regulatory reporting.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial services control expectations and frameworks such as FFIEC, GLBA, NIST, and related regulatory guidance.
  • Proven ability to communicate technical risk in clear business terms to executive leadership and boards.

Success Profile

  • Executive presence and board-ready communication style.
  • Business-oriented leadership mindset with strong risk judgment.
  • Ability to balance strategic oversight with practical execution.
  • Strong collaboration skills with enough independence to provide credible challenge.

Tools & Work Environmentย

  • Stable internet connection with speeds high enough for video conferencing and screen sharingย
  • Smartphone with current iOS/Android OSย ย
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a workstation and working on a computerย
  • Ability to communicate with coworkers and customers via email, chat, teleconference, and/or phoneย

    Where You Can Workย ย

Candidates must reside within the United States. We are not able to consider applicants who reside in Montana, Nebraska, Rhode Island, or Puerto Rico.ย

Quorum's opportunities are based in the U.S., and U.S. work authorization is required. We are not able to provide current or future sponsorship.ย ย

    Compensation & Rewardsย ย ย

Compensation for this role is $225,000 - $275,000 per year with the potential for discretionary incentive compensation based on both company and individual performance.

    ย Benefits That Support Youย ย ย

    • Excellent health insurance packages with a Health Reimbursement Account option
    • Life, AD&D, Short-Term Disability and Travel Insurance
    • 401k plan with company match dollar for dollar up to 6 percent*
    • Generous time-off policy with paid time off (PTO),ย volunteer time off (VTO), birthday PTO, and company-observed holidays
    • Monthly stipend for wellness activities and mental health*
    • Tuition reimbursement
    • Pet Benefits, including insurance, discounts, โ€œpawternityโ€ PTO day, and more
    • Bonus/commission plan for qualifying roles
    • Employee perks (including mortgage discounts!)
    • PTO purchase and sell-back programs
    • Rewards and peer recognition programs
    • Trust-based, out-come oriented remote work environment for most rolesย

    *After 6 months of serviceย

    Interview Process & AI Usage

We embrace technology and are enthusiastic about the role AI can play in helping people work more effectively. We recognize that candidates may use AI tools to prepare for opportunities, research organizations, or refine application materials. During interviews and assessments, however, we are most interested in understanding your own experiences, judgment, problem-solving approach, and communication style. Please be prepared to discuss your work, decisions, accomplishments, and thought process in your own words. We look forward to getting to know the person behind the application.
