Job description

Cigna-Evernorth Services Inc. seeks a Software Engineering Advisor for the Plano, TX location to resolve complex technical development issues and ensure that quality is maintained by following development patterns and standards.

Responsibilities:

Prepare deployment and post-deployment plans to support the conversion and deployment of software solutions.

Interact with architects, technical project managers, and developers to certify that solutions meet requirements and customer needs.

Improve coding quality and reliability by implementing good standards and best practices.

Participate in the collaborative concept definition, software design, and realization of software products to support the strategic technology needs of the organization.

Work within a technical capacity across the Data and Analytics sectors, including core development on platform, data processing, and report generation.

Deliver innovative solutions to complex problems and provide expert content on complex engineering assignments and projects.

Develop rest web services using Java and Spring Boot to connect native mobile applications to backend systems.

Coordinate with frontend and backend application teams to design solutions for the business requirements using Java and J2EE technologies and understand business needs driving products and capabilities of backend systems.

Participate in Agile scrum meeting and retrospective meetings.

Provide status updates to top management.

Perform peer review of team members' user stories and approve the code changes to ensure that the best coding practices are maintained.

Provide production support for clients, monitor application health, and provide solutions to production incidents.

Hybrid work schedule.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 years of experience in any software development role.

Will accept a Master's degree and 3 years of experience.

Must have experience with: gathering requirements from business users and preparing RUD (Requirement Understanding Document);

Performing impact analysis on the new business requirements to find out the systems that could potentially be affected by proposed change(s) and designing effective software solutions;

Preparing and submitting high-level estimates and detailed level estimates for new requirements;

Developing software solutions for system enhancements using Java and J2EE technologies;

Performing unit testing and integration testing;

Conducting peer review sessions with team members to review code;

Performing application support and maintenance activities;

Provide root cause analysis (RCA) and provide fix and deployment support for production issues;

Spring; Struts; JavaScript; CSS; Servlets; JSP; Web services; Jenkins; GitHub; SonarQube; SQL; IBM DB2; IBM RAD for WebSphere; Eclipse; WinSCP; DbVisualizer; Putty; ServiceNow; Serena Dimensions; and Unix.
