Job description

Job Title: Senior Electrical Project Engineer Type: Contract To Hire Compensation: $90-95/hr Work Model: Remote – offsite (with 25-50% travel)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join our Central Engineering team. This individual will serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for electrical engineering while leading and managing capital projects across multiple manufacturing and industrial facilities throughout the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Review, approve, and provide technical oversight of electrical engineering documentation throughout all project phases.
  • Develop project scopes, engineering strategies, budgets, and execution plans for electrical capital projects.
  • Participate in contractor and vendor evaluation, selection, and management.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate internal and external engineering resources.
  • Serve as the primary electrical engineering resource on capital and improvement projects.
  • Interface with senior leadership, operations teams, engineering consultants, and contractors regarding critical technical matters.
  • Initiate and support Management of Change (MOC) processes.
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) studies.
  • Support commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Plan and execute projects of varying size and complexity while maintaining safety, schedule, quality, and budget objectives.
  • Analyze technical and operational data to establish internal and external engineering benchmarks.
  • Develop innovative and cost-effective solutions to complex electrical and operational challenges.
  • Integrate regulatory, safety, operational, and business requirements into project designs.
  • Act as a technical representative for the organization on engineering projects and contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate engineering standards, policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Serve as an Electrical Engineering Subject Matter Expert and provide technical mentorship and training.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and standardize engineering procedures and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 12 years of electrical engineering experience in industrial manufacturing environments
  • Experience within the chemical, petrochemical, process manufacturing, or related industry
  • Strong understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements and electrical engineering standards
  • Expert knowledge and application of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Experience with electrical equipment specifications, construction materials, installation practices, and commissioning activities
  • Familiarity with medium-voltage power systems up to 15kV, including above-ground and underground distribution systems
  • Proven experience leading engineering projects from concept through execution
