Who we're looking for:


We're seeking a Junior Corporate Counsel to join Plug and Play's legal team. Working with our globally-recognized start-up accelerator programs worldwide, this Junior Corporate Counsel will gain valuable experience working side by side with our legal, sales, and accounting teams on all aspects of our contract drafting and negotiation processes for our commercial contracts. You will be exposed to a wide range of legal issues that are commonly dealt with by an in-house legal department.


The role is particularly well-suited for a recent law school graduate with a strong contract drafting background and experience in a fast-paced environment. We are especially interested in meeting candidates who are academically accomplished, team-oriented, self-motivated, and who possess excellent organizational skills. Prior experience with commercial contracts is a plus.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist the legal team in drafting complex commercial agreements, NDAs, and amendments, reviewing third-party documents in accordance with company standards, and managing legal records.
  • Support business teams by identifying and addressing legal and contractual risks, ensuring terms align with company policies and objectives.
  • Facilitate clear and consistent communication with multiple business units, including sales, accounting, operations, and automation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather information needed for contract preparation and execution.
  • Communicate with outside counsel and customer's attorneys and representatives.
  • Review and summarize key terms of sophisticated commercial contracts for Plug and Play's leadership team.
  • Attend meetings with customer's counsel, outside counsel, and different departments within Plug and Play.
  • Help maintain accurate records in Plug and Play's contract management systems.
  • Assist in developing and improving standard form agreements, playbooks, and templates to streamline legal operations.
  • Conduct basic legal research and provide concise summaries to support internal legal initiatives and decision-making.
  • Attend Expos, Demo Days, and other exclusive Plug and Play events.


In this role, you will:


  • Learn the fundamentals of commercial contracting and a wide variety of in-house legal department initiatives.
  • Develop a deep understanding of commercial contracts, negotiation strategies, and risk analysis.
  • Work alongside experienced members of our legal team, who will provide guidance and mentorship.
  • As your knowledge and experience increases, you will take ownership of new and different initiatives that align with your interests.


Qualifications:


  • JD from an accredited law school (JD year 2025-2026 preferred)
  • Active bar admission in Ohio a plus; however, recent graduates sitting for the upcoming bar exam will be considered
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience using Salesforce or Linksquares a plus
  • Self-starter who seeks out new challenges
  • Able to understand and synthesize complex ideas
  • Strong quantitative background evidenced by previous positions and/or course work
  • You take pride in your attention to detail and exercise precision in everything you do
