Davidson is distinguished in the aerospace and missile defense industry, in part, because of its excellence in hiring exceptional experts, engineers and software developers dedicated to delivering advanced, intelligent technology solutions in defense of our nation.Davidson Technologies Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Software Developer and Research Intern (remote) to contribute to the development of innovative tools and solutions for challenging problems.This position offers an opportunity to apply software engineering principles while exploring cutting-edge concepts and technologies.Overview:This individual will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle - from design discussions and requirements refinement to implementation, testing, and integration.The successful candidate will contribute to both established projects and exploratory research initiatives focused on evaluating new theories, concepts, and technologies relevant to our defense customers.This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to expand their skills in a dynamic and collaborative environment.Job Responsibilities:Develop navigation, PNT, and sensor-fusion algorithmsDevelop AI/ML algorithms for image processing and Edge AI applicationsImplement and integrate algorithms on embedded and target hardwareDevelop algorithms supporting communications and distributed systemsPerform system integration, testing and verification against requirementsConduct software development activities across multiple innovative tools.Actively participate in Agile practices and Scrum methodologies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.Support the integration of sophisticated algorithms (including AI/Machine Learning) into software products.Engage in exploratory projects to assess new theories, concepts, and technologies, potentially related to trajectory modeling & optimization or Air and Missile Defense Systems.Facilitate design discussions and collaborate effectively with senior engineers to refine project requirements.Communicate clearly and concisely to articulate ideas and concepts both verbally and visually.Job Requirements:Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software EngineeringProficiency in languages like C++, C#, and Python programming. Demonstrated experience through coursework or projects preferred for interns.Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies (experience is a plus).Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is highly desirable.Ability to collaboratively work on product requirements and contribute to team success.Preferred Skills:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering (or actively pursuing).Experience with GitLab Pipeline automation.Background in writing tactical software for defense applications and software qualification testing.Understanding of DevSecOps principles.Experience in trajectory modeling and optimization techniques.Knowledge of AI and Machine Learning algorithms.Familiarity with Air and Missile Defense Systems.Clearance Requirements:Currently hold active DoD Secret Clearance or be eligible to obtain one.
