Job description

Adjunct Faculty, Graphic Design
Compensation: $2440 for Lecture, $3340 for Studio - per course
Location: Remote | Must reside in AZ, CA, CO, FL, NY, VA, or TX
Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design seeks qualified applicants for teaching design courses on campus in the Graphic Design department as Adjunct Faculty who will be part of a growing, dynamic community of diverse educators. RMCAD is a small, premier college certified by HLC and NASAD offering degrees in fine and applied arts. RMCAD’s on-campus program consists of eight-week courses offered monthly. Adjunct faculty are assigned courses based on availability and student enrollment.
Job Function:
Instructors in the Graphic Design program teach design software and design processes in a variety of design disciplines. Seeking educators with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Information Visualization
  • Web Design
  • Environmental Graphics
  • Motion Graphics
  • Image manipulation
  • Layout Design
  • Package Design
  • Vector Illustration
  • Brand Identity Systems
Primary Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Instructional Activities: the practice and art of teaching, including evaluation by students, supervisor(s), and self. Faculty must also comply with all administrative and classroom management policies, procedures, and instructional deadlines.
  • Regularly record class attendance in Faculty Portal and submit midterm/final grades by the due date specified.
  • Provide timely, periodic, and meaningful feedback to students on assignments and participation.
  • Successfully complete an online Faculty Certification Course, a two-week faculty online orientation and certification class administered through RMCAD’s Learning Management System.
Qualifications
  • MFA and/or substantial professional experience in the design industry
  • Must be proficient in design software and processes
  • Minimum of two years of teaching experience is preferred
  • College-level teaching experience preferred
  • Online Teaching experience preferred
About the Department:
Discovery, inspiration, creativity, ideas…used separately these are powerful words, but integrated into a process of critical thinking, research, observation, and innovation, they create new opportunities for design students at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design. The Graphic Design program combines theory and practice, challenging students to discover their own individual design expression, and at the same time preparing them for today’s new business environment. With the development of new technologies and interactive media, the global marketplace is changing the role of the contemporary designer. RMCAD recognizes and embraces this enormous potential by combining these technologies with a classical art education founded in drawing, sociology, photography, theory, and form.

Putting people at the center of everything we teach and practice is the mission of the Graphic Design Department at RMCAD. Through our rigorous curriculum, we instill an in-depth understanding of research, design methodologies, technologies, and visual Graphic theory. Using design strategy and intuition, our graduates discover their personal voice by developing solutions to human-centered problems in the global environment and enter the field with an intense commitment to creating success for human beings.
