The Freight Coordinator is responsible for the movement of materials to and from job sites, warehouses, and other locations. The role includes brokering third party hauling by OTR trucking. The coordinator will ensure proper routines and methods are used regarding DOT and insurance. There will also be some fleet and driver maintenance and claim handling as well. This position is not remote and will have an office.
Job responsibilities
  • Establish and lead process to review pricing and ensure that projected costs savings are realized.
  • Negotiate complex contracts and rates Work with all levels of the business to evaluate requirements for goods and services for the categories managed.
  • Confer with personnel to address questions, problems, or equipment.
  • Monitor personnel and driver utilization to coordinate service and schedules.
  • Schedule, broker, or dispatch drivers to appropriate locations, according to requests, specifications, or needs.
  • Prepare daily work and run schedules.
  • Communicate to driver's, including but not limited to, load information, advances, maintenance coordination, performance counseling and safety procedures.
  • Daily accounting of all assigned trucks and drivers.
  • Oversee the monitoring of personnel and driver utilization to coordinate service and schedules while maintaining DOT compliance.
  • Monitor and ensure driver logs are completed and accurate.
  • Maintain KPI's and present both internally.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • 3+ years' experience in logistics and/or transportation.
  • BA or BS Degree preferred.
  • Computer applications experience including MS Office strongly desirable.
  • Computer applications systems experience using TMW and Supply Chain Management systems helpful.
  • P&L management and reporting experience and strong organizational background desired.
  • Excellent customer service, problem solving and decision-making skills desirable.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills.
  • Ability and availability to work extended hours including nights and weekends as needed by the client.
  • Experience with and working knowledge of FMCSA / DOT regulations.
  • Experience with and working knowledge of Telematic systems and application
