Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and manage secure, scalable, and resilient cloud-based solutions. As a senior member of our technical team, you will lead the architecture and deployment of complex AWS environments while ensuring alignment with federal security standards.

The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in AWS, possessing a deep understanding of infrastructure-as-code (IaC), automated CI/CD pipelines, and cloud security best practices. While our primary environment is AWS, experience navigating multi-cloud ecosystems (Azure and GCP) is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cloud Architecture & Engineering: Lead the design and deployment of robust AWS infrastructure, focusing on high availability, fault tolerance, and cost optimization.
  • Automation & DevOps: Develop and maintain automation scripts and templates using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible to ensure consistent environment provisioning.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement and manage security controls in alignment with NIST SP 800-53 and CMMC requirements. Experience with AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, and KMS is essential.
  • Operations & Monitoring: Oversee system performance using CloudWatch, Sentinel, or similar enterprise monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Cross-Platform Integration: Support hybrid-cloud initiatives and cross-platform workflows, particularly where AWS services interface with Microsoft 365, Azure, or GCP.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship to junior engineers and serve as a technical liaison between stakeholders and development teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent 10+ years of professional experience).
  • Experience: 7+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering, with a primary focus on AWS.
  • Certifications (Mandatory): * AWS Certified Solutions Architect โ€“ Professional or Associate
    • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer โ€“ Professional
    • AWS Certified Security โ€“ Specialty
  • Technical Proficiency: * Advanced knowledge of AWS services: EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, VPC, IAM, and Secrets Manager.
    • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, specifically Terraform.
    • Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multi-Cloud Experience: Working knowledge or certifications in Microsoft Azure (e.g., AZ-500) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Security Frameworks: Familiarity with Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) or RMF processes.
  • Containerization: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), or ECS.

Knowledge of:

    • NIST 800-53 / 800-171

Familiarity with:

Security Clearance Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust (High Risk) clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position due to federal contract requirements.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid role. Candidates are expected to work from our local office 3 days per week, with the remainder of the week available for remote work. This balance allows for high-level collaboration on architecture sessions while providing flexibility for deep-focus engineering tasks.
